TIRED LION RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘FRESH’ AND ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF THEIR DEBUT ALBUM – DUMB DAYS

Tired Lion

After years of well-earned hype, Perth rockers Tired Lion today deliver the dazzling new single, ‘Fresh,’ and along with it confirm the details of their highly-anticipated debut album, Dumb Days, which is set for release September 15 via Dew Process/UMA.

Much like the album it appears on, ‘Fresh’ has gradually evolved over the years to finally become the huge track it is today. Utilising the tried-and-tested, quiet vs loud rock dynamic, ‘Fresh’ is a song the band has been playing live for much of their career as a solid fan favourite. Today though, the song finally gets cut to tape and stands as one of the most intensely beautiful and brilliantly heavy tracks on Dumb Days.

Speaking about ‘Fresh,’ Tired Lion songwriter Sophie Hopes explains it’s a song that she penned at the end of one of the group’s first international tours, during a period when the band, as a collective, was coming to terms with their lives entering a new phase.

“It’s sort of a goodbye tune, saluting the old you that may have been holding you back, in order to move forward,” says Hopes. “At the time [of writing it] I felt like the whole band was at a point where we all had the realisation we weren’t a bunch of kids anymore. We were experiencing real life issues and coming to terms with adulthood.”

She adds that the song’s refrain, “Disconnect my youth,” is the key line that sums it up perfectly. “It’s about trying to let go of your inner child so you can eventually grow up, but it’s an exceedingly sad process.”

Dumb Days has already made headlines well in advance of its release, after news broke earlier this year that the record was being produced by Violent Soho frontman Luke Boerdam. The first single from it, the powerful ‘Cinderella Dracula,’ has gone on to be a staple on the airwaves throughout 2017, with a tonne of support from both triple j and community radio, and leading fans to speculate about the huge potential of the record set to follow it.

To support the album’s release, Tired Lion today also announce their largest, national, headline tour to date, playing shows in clubs in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. They’ll be supported by Sydney rock outfit Food Court and Perth punks Foam.

Jesse Porsches Signs AU, UK & US Label Deals And Releases Debut Single ‘The Weekend’

GENERAL PRESS PHOTO Jesse-Press-XingerXanger-1157

Up-and-coming Sydney DJ and producer Jesse Porsches today releases his debut solo single, ‘The Weekend’. The glimmering dance pop jam enlists Sydney singer-songwriter Xavier Dunn on vocal duties (who himself had a breakout year in 2016 topping Spotify’s USA Viral Chart).

The release coincides with the news that Jesse Porsches has just inked a label deal in Australia/NZ with Dew Process/UMA, where he will join labelmates among the likes of Tkay Maidza, Ecca Vandal and London Grammar. He has also signed with Island Records UK as well as NYC based record label Astralwerks, which is home to The Avalanches, Halsey, Empire of the Sun, The Chemical Brothers and Alison Wonderland. A song about fleeting connection, acceptance of a short-lived love and a celebration that some relationships aren’t meant to be forever, ‘The Weekend’ is a perfect anthem to send you running for the dancefloor.

Collaboration has been key to the creative process and success for Jesse Porsches. After co-producing the track ‘Sleepless,’ the debut single by the one-and-only Flume, Jesse started his first duo Porsches in 2015 with Carl Fox, penning the breakthrough hit ‘Horses’. Porsches went on to tour nationally, both as a live band and as DJs, performing alongside superstars like Skepta, Tkay Maidza, Booka Shade and Tensnake, as well as at festivals like Splendour In The Grass and Beyond The Valley.

2017 saw the launch of his second duo, Super Cruel, a dual producer project with Adelaide’s Tigerilla. Their first release ‘November’, featuring the inimitable vocals of Lisa Mitchell, instantly gained traction across national Australian radio and international streaming services online – further reinforcing Jesse’s reputation as having a Midas touch.

Now Jesse has finally stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist in his own right, with ‘The Weekend’. He’s poised to inspire music fans and lovers everywhere when he hits the road later this month, including performing at Splendour In The Grass with Super Cruel.

JOYRIDE DESTROYS SYDNEY IN VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE ‘KINGS AND QUEENS’

JOYRIDE HI RES CREDIT COLE BENNETTS

As a musician, performer, DJ and social maverick, Joyride has entrenched himself as one of the biggest personalities in Australian music. His work with the One Day Crew and The Meeting Tree has seen him nominated for an ARIA and play some of the biggest events in the country – from major festivals like Splendour In The Grass to the immensely popular One Day Sunday block parties.

Today Joyride drops the new single and video, ‘Kings And Queens’, showcasing his immense talent, while capturing the sentiment of people like him he sees striving to live vibrant lives against a backdrop of bullsh*t – as ever-expanding cultural sink holes continue to form in the cities and towns we love. ‘Kings And Queens’ calls out the people that “run these cities”, putting them on notice and exclaiming that we in the next generation are ready to raze the joint to the ground to remind them that no matter what, we will become the kings and queens of our domain.

“I wrote this on a day where I was feeling particularly upset about how the powers that be are hamstringing our culture, vibrancy and diversity,” says Joyride. “F*ck them. A community derives its worth from the entire sum of itself, not just the self-appointed top tier. If you come for our happiness, why can’t we come for yours? I was particularly cross that day, I guess.”

The video was directed by the brilliant minds at Entropico and guest stars Joyride’s nieces alongside the big man, as he and his little companions paint his hometown of Sydney in pastel colours; expose corrupt, little-to-no-action figures; and eventually smash the iconic skyline to the smithereens.
Speaking about the video, Joyride says, “My neices are cute AF. I hope they can grow up in a city that trusts them to be the best versions of themselves. I’ll show them the video at their 21st birthdays and hope we can look back and laugh at how sh*t we were being treated by elected officials and CEOs because it seems like a faint and distant dream.”

‘Kings and Queens’ is Joyride’s first single release since signing with Dew Process / UMA and is taken from his long-awaited forthcoming debut album Sunrise Chaser, which is scheduled for release in early 2018.

‘Kings and Queens’ will be available Friday, July 14 here

KINGSWOOD Release Single & Official Video ‘Atmosphere’

KINGSWOOD unveil the official video for ‘Atmosphere’, the third single to be lifted from their new album ‘After Hours, Close To Dawn’ which is out now via Dew Process.

The video was directed by Matt Campbell of ‘Some Motherfucker’s Gotta Pay’ notoriety who also directed ‘Golden’. The playful clip was shot at the historic Longuevue Mansion in Kenthurst, NSW. Alex Laska explains, “The Atmosphere video is a play on the most basic principles, unity and togetherness contrasting against light and shade. We wanted to create something in the realms of a Disney or animated children’s movie where the most ernest elements revolve around basic human concepts, whilst the production is usually unbelievable. In our case, the production was a backyard soldering job and some LED lighting set amongst the wondrous backdrop of the Longuevue”

After packing out venues and playing to sold-out rooms across Australia on their largest tour to date, KINGSWOOD have extended their national album tour to Tasmania and regional NSW. The Melbourne lads are also set to take the stage at this year’s Splendour In The Grass alongside Queens Of The Stone Age and Royal Blood.

The bands recently released, second ARIA Top 10 album, After Hours, Close To Dawn was named in Rolling Stone Australia’s 50 Most Anticipated Albums of 2017, as well as The Herald Sun’s Biggest New Albums in 2017, and sees KINGSWOOD move to the frontline of innovators in Australian music. It mixes compelling R’n’B grooves with soaring rock & roll, garage soul and space-age experimentation. It’s an eclectic collection of music, but it’s all connected by the defining element that is the trio’s creative DNA. No matter what shape they take, these songs are still instantly recognisable as pure KINGSWOOD.

Isaac Gracie Releases New Single And Video ‘All In My Mind’

Screen Shot 2017-06-20 at 9.59.58 AM

Today critically-lauded British singer-songwriter Isaac Gracie unleashes his ethereal voice upon the world once again with the release of the striking new single and video for ‘All In My Mind.’

‘All In My Mind’ was produced by Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay) at London’s RAK Studios and quickly follows in the footsteps of the single and video for ‘Reverie’, which was released back in March and has rapidly become his most popular release to date. Both follow 2016’s self-produced debut EP, Songs From My Bedroom, and the live EP, Songs In Black And White. The video was directed by Bunny Kinney.

When Isaac Gracie introduced himself last year with the careworn and crackling ‘Last Words’, it signalled a young artist wearing his emotions on his sleeve and in control of quite an incredible voice. It sounded like a minor key classic – it still does – and it soon focused a burning spotlight on a young artist readjusting to the attention the song was demanding.

‘All In My Mind’, like ‘Reverie’ before it, leans on that initial sense of entrancement and melancholy, and takes it all a few steps further. Featuring a swell of instruments beyond merely a guitar and that voice, it offers a glimpse at just how far Gracie has already evolved as an artist since he first caught the world’s attention. It’s quite at odds with his heaving stable of young solo male peers, but it stands alone to become, in fact, quite peerless.

London Grammar Announce National Australian Headline Tour

London Grammar (Eliot Lee Hazel)2568 JPG_HI_RES

Brit Award-nominated three-piece London Grammar today announce that they will be returning to Australia for a massive national headline tour throughout September. The tour will see Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dot Major perform shows across four states in some of the country’s most esteemed venues and arenas; Fremantle Arts Centre, Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, and not one but two shows at the iconic Sydney Opera House. The trio is also set to headline Brisbane Festival’s marquee music event; a curated outdoor concert at Brisbane’s beautiful Riverstage with a full supporting line-up to be announced July 11.

The tour announce also marks the release of their stunning, critically acclaimed second album Truth Is A Beautiful Thing, which is out tomorrow, June 9 via Dew Process / UMA.

Special guests to be announced and tickets are on sale 9:00am, Friday 16 June.

London Grammar first captivated Australian audiences back in 2013 with their debut performances in the country at The Falls Music And Arts Festival, as well as three, sold-out sideshows. In September the same year, their debut LP If You Wait entered the ARIA Albums Chart at #2, went on to sell over two million copies worldwide, and saw them awarded a prestigious Ivor Novello Award for the spectacular single, ‘Strong’.

In 2015, they returned to Australia to play to rapt audiences at sold-out arena shows, including Redhill Auditorium, Riverstage and Festival Hall, plus two Sydney shows at the Hordern Pavilion and Enmore Theatre with the likes of The Music declaring, “with Reid’s vocals pushing the performance to new heights, elating every soul and leaving everyone hoping that it’s not as long between visits for London Grammar.”

The band returned to Australia over the new year, once again to perform on the Falls Festival stage; this time as a headliner. They celebrated the occasion by ensuring Aussie fans were the first in the world to hear brand-new material from the forthcoming album, when they debuted the heart-wrenching, ‘Rooting For You’. Now the trio are poised to return once again to their home away from home for the fourth time, armed with the rest of the exquisite songs from Truth Is A Beautiful Thing.

Truth Is A Beautiful Thing production credits come courtesy of Paul Epworth, the multi-Grammy and Oscar-winning producer for the likes of Florence & The Machine and Adele. The album also features production by friend and Mercury-nominee Jon Hopkins (Brian Eno, King Creosote) on the sweeping lead single ‘Big Picture’, as well as colour and depth provided by the genius of the 32-piece City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, who play across the record. The band also worked with LA based Greg Kurstin (Sia, Beck) as well as Tim Bran and Roy Kerr.

Bernard Fanning “Isn’t It A Pity” Out Today

Isn’t It a Pity’ is the first track from Bernard Fanning’s new LP Brutal Dawn, out May 26, 2017 via Dew Process / Universal Music Australia. Brutal Dawn is the second installment in a two-album series with 2016’s Civil Dusk.

Looking at the gap between memory and reality, Isn’t It A Pity neatly shifts between mellow verses and a glorious chorus driven by a gritty soul groove. The idea of renewal and forward motion is captured in the final verse: “Now all your fabled advice rings of emptiness and studied lines…But I have resolved to erase all the bitterness and venom in my veins’.“I was listening to Bobby Blue Bland’s ‘Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City’, Bernard explains, “and I loved the way the Philly strings gave it a lot more melody and power without making it beefy. When we recorded it we were deliberately trying to keep it from rocking too much so we replaced what were horns, with strings and it did the trick. Clare Bowditch helped on the weird minory backing vocals which helps it all sound big, without being heavy. It was a bit of an arm wrestle this song, but I love where it ended up.”

Produced by Nick DiDia and recorded at La Cueva studio (located near Byron Bay), Isn’t It A Pity also features his band The Black Fins: Salliana Campbell providing fiddle, Matt Engelbrecht on bass, Andrew Morris laying down guitar and Declan Kelly on drums and a special guest appearance by good friend Clare Bowditch who provides backing vocals.

LONDON GRAMMAR RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘OH WOMAN, OH MAN’

Following their recent sold out and much praised run of UK dates, London Grammar announce the beautiful new, Paul Epworth produced single, ‘Oh Woman, Oh Man’.

Hannah, Dot and Dan have spent past weeks collaborating with esteemed British film director Tony Kaye on the video for ‘Oh Woman, Oh Man’, which was shot in East London this week and will be released next month.

The track follows the release of recent singles Rooting For You, ‘Big Picture and most recently Truth Is A Beautiful Thing and comes ahead of the release of the trio’s much anticipated second album, Truth Is A Beautiful Thing on June 9 via Dew Process / UMA.

As with their debut If You Wait, this album was written almost entirely by Hannah, Dot and Dan. The trio worked with the likes of Oscar winning producer Paul Epworth (Florence & The Machine, Adele), Mercury nominated Jon Hopkins (Brian Eno, King Creosote) and LA based Greg Kurstin (Sia, Beck) as well as Tim Bran and Roy Kerr on the album.

A huge few months ahead for the band who are set to play Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and more.

TKAY MAIDZA SHARES PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACK ‘GLORIOUS’

The international appeal of Tkay Maidza’s music takes yet another huge and incredibly cool step today with the release of her previously unreleased track ‘Glorious’, after it was exclusively premiered on one of the final episodes of the smash-hit HBO Series, Girls.

The song was given to the Girls to use on the soundtrack to its latest episode, which aired in the US on Sunday night, after the show’s creator Lena Dunham made a personal request to use Tkay’s music as a fan of the rising Adelaide rap star.

Girls reached out to my US label asking if we had any unreleased songs for their final ever season as Lena knew who I was and is apparently a fan of mine,” explains Tkay. “They wanted something for a party scene and I have maybe 5-10 songs that are basically finished but didn’t make the cut for my album. We thought ‘Glorious’ could fit well, so we sent them that and the feedback was that Lena loved it and they wanted to use it. I love the show and it’s really crazy that they know me but I’m excited to see the track in there and for people to hear it.”

The anthemic new track sees Tkay fully embrace her big time pop persona, featuring floating melodic rhymes atop of trap beats, big vocal hooks and blasting, stadium-ready horns blasting through the chorus.

Contributing music to one of the most iconic TV shows of her generation is just another incredible milestone in the amazing and still amazingly fresh career of Maidza. It now stands alongside being nominated for Best International Act at the 2016 BET Awards, collaborating on Martin Solveig’s chart-climbing single ‘Do It Right’, and releasing her critically acclaimed debut album TKAY in 2016 .  She may have only just been a part of the end of Girls, but it’s safe to say things are only warming up for Tkay.

OH WONDER ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘ULTRALIFE’ OUT JUNE 16TH + SHARE NEW TRACK “LIFETIMES”

OW Josh Shiner Lead 1 WEB

London-based electronic, synth-pop duo, Oh Wonder, are today thrilled to announce the details of their second album. Ultralife is set to be released on 16th June, 2017. They have also shared a second track from the record “Lifetimes” and announced an exclusive run of Australian sideshows to their appearance at Splendour In the Grass 2017.

Ultralife was predominantly recorded at the band’s own home studio in London, and self-produced by the duo. The first single ‘Ultralife’ was released last week and has already racked up over 2 million streams online. Ultralife is both Oh Wonder’s extraordinary second album and their debut proper. Its eponymously-titled predecessor, released in late 2015, was a collection of songs they had posted online at the rate of one a month, which millions of listeners fell in love with, turning London-based Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West into reluctant pop stars. Now their first album is fast approaching half a billion streams – a happy accident indeed.

We’ve never pushed this project,” says Josephine. “It has always felt like it’s pulling us along. We initially put our songs on Soundcloud hoping to pitch them to other artists. What happened next surprised us as much as anyone. Almost from the moment we began, we felt a connection with fans.”

Rather than rely on computers, Ultralife boasts lots of live instrumentation, including drums and bass, as well as Anthony’s collection of analogue synths, which are central to the songs’ warm, sensual sound. Some of the album, including the strings, was recorded at The Pool in Bermondsey, but most of it was made in the pair’s home studio, where they had to work around TFL’s bus timetable. “Our studio is on a busy main road, on the corner of two bus routes,” explains Anthony. “Whenever we’d start recording, another bus would go by. We couldn’t do vocals before 10pm.”

“But some buses do sneak in,” reveals Josephine. “The album opens with a bus, an ode to the fact that the entire album was compromised by London transport. There’s also a police siren from New York, where we had the same problem with traffic. “We could have made our lives easier by going to a studio with soundproofing, but that isn’t us. Our lives are in these songs and it didn’t feel fair to leave the night buses out.”

Oh Wonder Announce New Single ‘Ultralife’

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 2.29.39 PM

London-based electronic, synth-pop duo, Oh Wonder are thrilled to share their shimmering new single, Ultralife, their first since the release of their debut self-titled album in 2015. It has just been announced this week that the band will be returning to Australia in July, 2017 for an appearance at Splendour In The Grass, where they will be joining the jaw-dropping line-up of over 100 acts among the likes of The XX, Queens Of The Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, Catfish And The Bottlemen and Haim.

Ultralife takes the hallmarks of the band’s experimental 2015 self-titled debut – its hypnotic dual vocals, its exposed, emotional lyrics, its bewitching, ethereal beauty. The single is the sound of a new confidence seeping into the pair’s songwriting. It is muscular in its delivery, celebratory in its message, and plays with a dizzying array of textures and sounds, but without losing the essence of what makes Oh Wonder so special.

Oh Wonder began as a writing project, where the duo set out to write, record and release one song every month for a year, hoping to inevitably pitch the songs to other artists. However, the tracks were being listened to in their hundreds of thousands, and then into their multi-millions; now their first album is fast approaching half a billion streams. Anthony and Josephine’s side project had inadvertently morphed into an internationally touring band; a happy accident indeed.

Oh Wonder head to the US in April to play a series of West Coast shows around their two slots at Coachella. They return to the US in May for six further dates before landing on Australian soil for Splendour In The Grass 2017.

CIRCA WAVES NEW ALBUM ‘DIFFERENT CREATURES’ OUT NOW

circa_2016

UK rockers Circa Waves  take their place at the top of the rock heap with the release of their barnstorming, sophomore album Different Creatures.

Featuring the already massive singles, Wake Up and Fire That Burns‘, the album’s release heralds a huge change of sound from the band, who surprised and delighted fans and critics with those earlier singles and the brutally heavy but undeniably just as infectious new approach to their music.

This powerhouse rock sound came about thanks to the co-production skills of Circa Waves frontman Kieran Shudall and studio legend Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Killers, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, NIN), who worked together to raise the levels of fuzzed guitars to jostle for space alongside Shudall’s trademark melodies, and to re-introduce the world to a band ready to push their sound forward and claim their place at the top of the table of UK guitar bands.

The follow up to the Liverpool quartet’s massive, breakout, debut, 2015 album Young ChasersDifferent Creatures is poised to be the grittier, ‘night time’ counterpart to the breezy summer vibes of its predecessor – an album which established them as firm favourites of Aussie audiences off the back of huge singles like ‘T-Shirt Weather’ and ‘Fossils’.

Shaped by Shudall’s perceptive songwriting that reflects the changes in the world he sees, Different Creatures showcases a general sense of disenchantment, as he tackles weightier subject matter against the backdrop of a louder and more forceful band, delving into a sonic territory occupied by rock heavyweights such as Arctic Monkeys and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Shudall says he has a new found perspective on his songwriting in the aftermath of the success of Young Chasers that has resulted in this maturing of the band’s sound, encouraging them to evolve rather than rest on their laurels. “When I saw the way that people connected with it I really started to believe in myself. I’m a different person now – I feel like I’ve got a fire in my belly with this record.”

Different Creatures is the sound of a band who are going with their hearts, reflecting the changes they’re seeing unfold around them and moving forward. A risky move, but as fans will soon discover for themselves, it’s a risk that has paid off creatively in droves.

Electric Guest Release New Single ‘Back For Me’ + Announce New Album ‘Plural’

EG_3000

Electric Guest are grooving their way into 2017 early with the release of their brand-new single, ‘Back For Me’ – the second official release from their forthcoming sophomore album, Plural, which has just been announced for release February 17 via Dew Process / UMA.

The up-tempo single is simultaneously glamorous and minimalist in its approach, revolving around a basic formula of clapping drums, a strutting bassline, bright guitar notes and cooing layers of falsetto vocals that all stand out on their own while perfectly combining in a mix that straddles the line between tender indie rock and a neo-disco jam.

‘Back For Me’ is a side-step to ‘Dear To Me’, the duo’s synth-driven first single from Plural. Released late last year, the no less infectious single feautured a cameo from Haim on backing vocals, and was Electric Guest’s first official release since their 2012 breakout debut album,Mondo. Premiering on Stereogum, it announced their return with soulful style and a terminally chill flow that seamlessly suited the rise of Australian summer.

Recorded in their hometown of LA and, Plural is a record that finds Electric Guest’s Asa Tacconeand Matthew Compton at the absolute top of their game, infusing their version of electronic r’n’b with an even more confident, adventurous spirit than even Mondo displayed. Co-produced by the duo, along with the likes of John Hill (Rihanna, Santigold, M.I.A.), Cole MGN (Nite Jewel, Ariel Punk’s Haunted Graffiti) and Lars Stalfors (HEALTH, Coldwar Kids), the album is much more than the sum of its parts – using spare instrumentation and recording techniques to produce vibrant and joyful pop music that focuses purely on the power of the band’s songwriting and performing abilites.

When it came to record Plural, Taccone admits that he forced himself to simplify and look for that joy in writing and recording that had originally inspired the band’s debut album and won them so much success.

“I just realized that working quickly and intuitively is part of the magic of making music,” says Taccone. “I think a lot of music suffers when people get into a studio and feel like the process has to be this heady thing. When you go in with expectations, it wears down the levity and the fluidity that the natural process should have. And that’s not to say there weren’t songs on this record that were puzzles we had to figure out, but making music is supposed to be fun, and it was important for us to get back to that.”

That freewheeling sense of looseness Taccone rediscovered also opened the doors to several off-the-cuff collaborations, including an impromptu collaboration with baroque pop star Joanna Newsom and the aforementioned Haim sisters. It also led to a new level of comfort both at the mixing board and behind the microphone. That relaxed, go with the flow approach permeatesPlural, encouraging the listener to shed all their preoccupations, and sing or dance along with its 12 glorious tracks.

‘Back For Me’ is just a tantalising taste of what we can expect once Plural finally drops February 17.

CIRCA WAVES RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘WAKE UP’

circa_2016

Liverpool rockers Circa Waves have backed up the release of their mighty new single ‘Wake Up’ with the release of an equally explosive video.

A murky exploration of the human condition, the ‘Wake Up’ video takes an intimate look at an array of misfits in their darkest hours, darting between shots of each enigmatic character and a congruously fiery performance from the band.

Frontman Kieran Shuddall says of the video, “Wake up is a response to the fears and demons that are inside all of us. It’s fierce, dark and sinister.”

The video follows the announcement that the band’s eagerly anticipated new album Different Creatures, will be released on Dew Process / EMI on March 10.

‘Wake Up’, was released as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 last month and received its Australian premiere on triple j. It finds the band re-establishing themselves with a powerhouse rock sound, thanks to the co-production skills of Shudall and studio legend Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Killers, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, NIN), as walls of fuzzed guitars jostle for space with Shudall’s trademark melodies, re-introducing the world to a band ready to push their sound forward and claim their place at the top of the table of UK guitar bands.

‘Wake Up’ is the first single the UK quartet has released since their massive 2015 album Young Chasers, and stands as a juttering, barbed statement-of-intent on what to expect from Different Creatures. The album is poised to be the grittier, ‘night time’ counterpart to the breezy summer vibes of its predecessor Young Chasers, which established them as firm favourites of Aussie audiences off the back of huge singles like ‘T-Shirt Weather’ and ‘Fossils’.

Shudall says of the new single “‘Wake Up’ is a big and bold way to start. It shows we’re not messing around anymore”.

He adds that he has a new found perspective on his songwriting in the aftermath of the success of Young Chasers that has resulted in this maturing of the band’s sound, encouraging them to evolve rather than rest on their laurels.

KINGSWOOD ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF THEIR SECOND ALBUM + NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR

Kingswood_ PRESS PHOTO ALBUM ANNOUNCE WEB VERSION

Powerhouse rockers KINGSWOOD today confirm the details for their second studio album After Hours, Close To Dawn, set for release in Australia on March 3, 2017 via Dew Process. The band also announce they will be heading out across the country for their national album tour throughout March and April next year. The fourteen-date After Hours, Close To Dawn tour, proudly supported by triple j, kicks off in Belgrave on Thursday March 23 before hitting up capital cites as well as a handful of shows off the beaten track. Special guests to be announced and tickets are on sale 9:00am Friday, December 9.

KINGSWOOD members Alex Laska, Fergus Linacre and Justin Debrincat spent the earlier part of 2016 bunkered down recording the follow up to their ARIA #6 and ARIA nominated 2014 debut Microscopic Wars at the legendary Sound Emporium in Nashville, USA. Owned by musical legend Johnny Cash’s producer Jack Clement – the studio has recorded hit albums from some of the greats, including Robert Plant, Cyndi Lauper, Alabama Shakes and Pharell. The new album was produced by English-born and Nashville-based producer Ed Spear, who the band befriended when he engineered Microscopic Wars.

The first offering from these recordings is their commanding new single ‘Creepin’’. The track premiered via the airwaves on triple j Drive with Veronica and Lewis was added straight to the triple j playlist and has gained close to 200,000 streams online.

Good bands follow the path in front of them, but the great ones forge their own trail. With their new album, After Hours, Close To Dawn, KINGSWOOD prove they’re part of the latter’s rich, rare lineage: risk-takers who refuse to acknowledge the easy boundaries that demarcate popular music. The group have made a record that’s bursting with diverse ideas, extraordinary sounds, and heartfelt emotion. “There’s no direction we can’t take now,” believes Linacre. “KINGSWOOD can go anywhere we want.” “Any perspective on what we should sound like has been thrown out the window,” adds Laska, After Hours, Close To Dawn puts KINGSWOOD on the front line of innovators. It mixes compelling R’n’B grooves with soaring rock & roll, garage soul and space-age experimentation. It’s an eclectic collection of music, but the defining element is the through line of the trio’s creative DNA. No matter what shape they take, these songs still instantly recognizable as KINGSWOOD.

Tkay Maidza Releases Official Video For ‘Simulation’

Tkay - general press pic

Tkay Maidza today unleashes the official video for tropical dancefloor anthem Simulation; the second official single to be released from her debut album TKAY, which is out now via Dew Process / UMA.

The playful video, which premiered via The Fader was filmed in Los Angeles during Tkay’s most recent US tour and directed by duo Lamar + Nik, who have created mini-movie music videos for the likes of the Pixies & Magnolia. The clip is a literal translation of the lyrics, capturing Tkay bouncing and singing her way through a simulated virtual world made up of projections of light and colour, her swagger and joyful approach encapsulating the energy and effervescence of her boisterous live show in the real world.

‘Simulation’ finds Maidza infusing melody-driven dance-pop with a sweet and tender soulfulness. Co-written by Tkay, along with her DJ and producer LK McKay and George Maple, Tkay says the track is about overcoming complacency and “hoping to find something real after everything that is calculated and planned disappears. It’s so common that people get lazy when they feel content because they have partially achieved their goals and are living the way they dreamt about, thus beginning to think it’ll last forever….  I have noticed that things constantly change, so when something doesn’t go to plan it’s like cracks in the simulation become visible.”

The track has already reached over 1 million streams globally, is currently sitting at #1 on the AMRAP Metro Chart and in the Top 10 Shazam Future Hits chart. Internationally, Zane Lowe selected ‘Simulation’ as his ‘World Record’ on Beats 1.

Tkay’s debut has been garnering rave reviews across the globe and was showcased across Australian airwaves after being awarded the celebrated triple j Feature Album, as well as FBi’s ‘Album Of The Week’.

Maidza has just wrapped up a lap of the country for her successful national ‘TKAY’ album tour and has just been announced the winner of two awards at the SA Music Awards for Best Song for ‘Ghost’ and Best International Collaboration for ‘Do It Right’ with French producer Martin Solveig. Her next run of dates will see her hit the east coast of Australia for The Falls Music & Arts Festival to play alongside the likes of Childish Gambino, London Grammar, The Avalanches and Violent Soho.

Australian Open 2017 has just this morning, dropped their spectacular line-up for The Open Sessions. Maidza will be joining a host of Aussie and international acts at the Australian Open Live Stage, with Birds of Tokyo, DMA’S, The Temper Trap, Jimmy Eat World and The Living End.

JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR ‘GET LOW’

JVM - DP Newsletter

After emerging as one of the highlight tracks on his brilliant third album, We Move, James Vincent McMorrow today releases the official video for the captivating single, ‘Get Low.’

The new video follows the story of the complicated love lives of a group of New York teens, and calls to mind Larry Clark’s infamously brutal and beautiful film Kids.

‘Get Low’ was the second official track to be released from We Move after he introduced the innovative, r’n’b and hip-hop influenced sound of his new album with the head-turning single ‘Rising Water.’ However, ‘Get Low’ has quickly established itself as a fan favourite, climbing to over 8.2 million streams on Spotify alone.

McMorrow had previously released a studio performance video for the song its raw, rockier edge in the live setting re-establishing the spine-tingling impact of first listening to the original album version.

McMorrow also recently discussed the song’s writing and production process in detail in an episode of the excellent podcast series, Song Exploder. Listen to him break down the song to its bare elements and explain how the track was deeply influenced by the production skills of Pharrell Williams here.

James and his band are now poised to return to Australian shores in 2017 with a tour kicking off March 1 in Perth. His whirlwind trip to the country earlier this year to perform at Splendour In The Grass was one of the highlights of the festival, and included a breath-taking performance of the then unreleased ‘Get Low,’ which connected with the crowd instantly. For tickets and info head to secretsounds.com.

This tour will also be his first full Australian round of shows since the lauded 2014 tour for his album Post Tropical, the pinnacle of which saw him sell out two nights at the Sydney Opera House.

McMorrow will be supported by rising Brisbane/Byron Bay rock trio Moreton, whose debut EP Specimen was released earlier this year to critical acclaim off the back of singles like ‘The Water’ and ‘Specimen.’

Bernard Fanning & Kasey Chambers ‘Sooner or Later’ Tour 2017

Bernard and Kasey - Sooner or Later Tour 2017

A mutual love and respect for each other’s music has fanned the flames of friendship in and out of the studio between two of our most celebrated singer songwriters, Bernard Fanning and Kasey Chambers, for many years. In a move that will delight fans, they are excited to announce a co-headline tour early 2017!

Regularly sharing stages, and featuring on each other’s records, Bernard co-writing, adding guitar and vocals to Golden Guitar Award winning single ‘Bittersweet’, the title track from Kasey’s 2014 LP, and Kasey laying down vocals more recently for ‘Sooner or Later’ from Bernard’s latest LP, Civil Dusk, it is a natural fit for the two to tour together.

A note from Bernard “We, Bernard Fanning and the Black Fins, do hereby declare our joy in announcing the birth of the Sooner or Later Tour with Kasey Chambers through regional Qld, NSW and Victoria.  We have been having such a ball playing on each other’s records and guesting at each other’s shows over the last ten years that we finally decided to take it on the road. Looking forward to getting to some places that I have never played in and sharing the stage with a great mate and total legend Kasey

Kasey on the Sooner or Later Tour: “Bernard and I have collaborated musically on and off over the past ten years and after being asked the question about a double tour for a long time I’m so happy to say it’s finally here! This is not just two artists being thrown together to tour but two friends who have a musical history to share-together and separately-through a night of different styles meeting in the middle. He’s my mate but I’m also his biggest fan, so touring with him in regional Australia is a career highlight for me”

You can watch a spectacular live rendition of ‘Sooner or Later’, performed by both Bernardand Kasey and filmed at Bernard’s sold out show at the stunning Palais Theatre in Melbourne HERE

With a sold out national tour behind him, Bernard was honoured to receive an ARIA last week, taking home the Best Adult Contempory Album award, for his third solo record Civil Dusk (Dew Process / UMA), part one of a two part project (the second LP Brutal Dawn is due 2017).

While Kasey’s August EP release, Ain’t No Little Girl has given fans a taste of her impending eleventh studio LP, Dragonfly, a double album that sees her collaborating with Australian music legend Paul Kelly in the producer’s chair for one session, and Nash Chambers producing the other, due for release January 20th, 2017 (Warner Music).

Don’t miss two of Australia’s most lauded and loved singer songwriters on their Sooner or Later Tour, January and February 2017!

Tkay Maidza Debut Album ‘TKAY’ Out Now

Tkay - general press pic

Tkay Maidza’s jaw-dropping debut album TKAY is released in Australia today via Dew Process & UMA. Maidza has only just landed back on home soil fresh from the US after a handful of headline club shows plus two performances in New Zealand. Next week she will begin the Australian leg of her national headline tour with an arsenal of brand new material ready to shake-up dance floors across the country. The tour kicks off in Brisbane on Thursday November 3, before heading to Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart. Special guests Sable and Midas.Gold will be supporting; tickets are selling fast.

In celebration of the release today, Tkay has just announced a surprise pop-up in-store at Sydney’s Butter where she will perform live and be signing copies of the album which will be available from the venue. Tkay x Butter – 6 Hunt St Surry Hills, Sydney from 4pm.

TKAY was showcased across Australian airwaves all this week after being awarded the celebrated triple j Feature Album as well as FBi’s ‘Album Of The Week’. Internationally, Zane Lowe selected current single “Simulation” as his ‘World Record’ on Beats 1.

‘Simulation’ finds Maidza infusing melody-driven dance-pop with a sweet and tender soulfulness. It was the third cut to be revealed, following the huge first official single ‘Carry On’, featuring none other than cultural and political icon and one half of Run The Jewels – Killer Mike. The track was added straight to high rotation on triple j, topping their hit list and quickly gaining close to one-and-a-half million streams globally online. Maidza also recently dropped the track ‘Tennies’ – an ode to Tkay’s favourite kicks – produced by LA-based producer Salva.

Having established herself as a commanding and complex vocalist and lyricist, the songs across TKAY channel a sense of defiance and attitude that could only be wielded by an artist blazing the kind of unique trail Maidza has already achieved in not only Australian hip-hop but the Australian music industry as a whole. She brings a dance-ready yet reflective dynamic that endlessly warps genres and shows her affinity for everything from UK garage, grime, throwback hip-hop, and trap. Joining forces with producers like Salva (Young Thug, A$AP Ferg) and Dre Skull (Major Lazer, Snoop Dogg), Maidza continually pushes her music to the exciting edge of chaos but keeps it all grounded with her pop-perfect melodies and masterfully heavy grooves. Meanwhile her lyrics strike a rare balance of boldness and vulnerability that gives TKAY a potent emotional charge.

Her most recent Australian shows at BIGSOUND in September unsurprisingly reinforced her status as one of the most talked about artists in the country, as she became the name on everyone’s lips at the growing international music industry conference and music festival. Those shows saw Maidza showcase brand new material to jam-packed audiences, with Music Feeds stating, “To say [Brisbane venue] The Flying Cock was packed to the rafters would be an understatement… Tkay Maidza’s closing set blew the lid off of the place… Driven by an amalgam of toothy smiles, dance-friendly beats and single-minded charisma, she sent a constant stream of energy coursing outward to a receptive crowd… this set was electric, with the audience reaction matching the energy in equal measure.” Meanwhile, Tone Deaf declared, “she dominated the stage… and boy did she kill it.”

KINGSWOOD UNLEASHES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO FOR ‘CREEPIN’

Kingswood WEB

Firebrand, ARIA-nominated, Melbourne rockers Kingswood are back in a big, big way today with the release of the barnstorming new single ‘Creepin’. The band also announce local supports for their up and coming national club show tour throughout November, tickets for these up close and personal shows are on sale now.

‘Creepin’ is the band’s first new single since their 2014 top 10 debut album Micorscopic Wars, which premiered via the airwaves on triple j Drive with Veronica and Lewis. The track lures you in with its opening, soothing, psychedelic guitar notes and Fergus Lincare’s tender, soulful vocals, before its jaws close down around you in the form of thunderous drum rolls and a crunching, stadium-sized bass line.

The band’s guitarist and principal songwriter Alex Laska says, “Creepin is a song about the darker and more lustful parts of one’s mind, when longing for an object or person of desire. The idea being an attempt at reconciliation of the thought itself when the reality is an insatiable quest that ultimately transforms the protagonist entirely from something quite innocent and pure into a more sinister, powerful self through recognition of this transformation.”

Laska, who also directed the accompanying video that pits images of the band performing live against the backdrop of a ballet studio, says the concept was inspired by and an attempt to pay homage to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.

“The elements that represent the more pure and innocent initial form are represented by the ‘white swan’ who is affected by her inner darker desires, embodied and portrayed by the ‘demon’ character that ultimately challenges and divides her, resulting in a more powerful ‘dark swan’. There was interest in juxtaposing two art forms that are usually not associated, ballet and alternative rock music, featuring choreography by Kalman Warhaft and Australian Ballet School alumni now based around the world.”

The single and video’s release follows in the footsteps of their recently announced string of nation-wide headline tour dates beginning November 2016.

TIRED LION RELEASE EPIC NEW SINGLE + VIDEO ‘AGORAPHOBIA’

TL-Agoraphobia Pic

After a huge 2016 that saw them dominate the local airwaves with the breakout single ‘Not My Friends,’ triumphantly tour Europe playing the likes of Latitude and Glastonbury festivals, return home for one of the most barnstorming sets of this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival, and sign with US booking agency AGI (whose roster includes the likes of The Strokes and Metallica) – no-one would blame Tired Lion if they took a step back for a second to let it all sink in. However, the Perth four-piece aren’t about to lift their foot off the accelerator any time soon and today release the new single ‘Agoraphobia’ – one of the most powerful and personal songs you’ll hear this year.

The song, which premiered on Triple J’s Good Nights with Linda program last night, takes inspiration from the panic disorder that results in an extreme fear of open or public places. The song writing process for ‘Agoraphobia’ was a collective cathartic experience for all four members – Sophie Hopes, Matt Tanner, Ethan Darnell and Nick Vasey – who each have their own, unique experiences with mental illness.

“It’s something that people do experience and whether they talk about it or not is actually quite normal,” explains the band’s front woman Hopes. “I remember when I was going through it I really thought there was something wrong with me and you really try and be something that you’re not at the time and the only way to fix the problem is to go, “Okay cool, so that’s a thing that I’ve got and I just need to work with it in my own way” and realise how to tackle it rather than just giving up on yourself.”

To coincide with the single, the band has also released a new video for the track, once again pushing themselves to represent the pressures of mental illness – this time with scenes of out of control fans invading a “house party” gig, the pressures of the outside world flooding into the confines of home. According to Hopes, the pandemonium on screen wasn’t all play either. “There were a couple of times where people chipped their teeth, got elbowed in the eye, I got my hair pulled out pretty hard and I was left with a couple of bruises, but it was all to make a good video,” she laughs. “I think we’ve also realised now Ethan has an allergy to duck feathers.”

The release of ‘Agoraphobia’ couldn’t have been timed more perfectly, with the band set to embark on a national tour supporting Brisbane rock heavy weights Violent Soho at the end of the month, alongside Tasmanian punks Luca Brasi and California heroes The Bronx.

HARTS RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR ‘POWER’

Harts

With his commanding new album Smoke Fire Hope Desire set to drop this Friday, September 16 via Dew Process/UMA, Harts is cranking the hype and volume up to 11 today with the release of the explosive video for ‘Power’. Harts’ first official video in years doesn’t disappoint, featuring the flamboyant rock, soul and funk star showcasing his signature stage moves amongst the psychedelic colours and imagery that permeate Smoke Fire Hope Desire. The video was directed by Young Black Youth (who previously directed clips for Gang Of Youths’ ‘Benevolence Riots’ and Allday’s ‘Right Now’), who described the clip as, “a celebration of the power of humanity and youth in particular. Juxtaposed with the beauty and power of nature.”

“We wanted to make a performance based clip,” explains Harts mastermind Darren Hart. “The intention interlacing with symbolic imagery of the song’s message and meaning. The director’s concept and execution of this idea was great, which made it a really fun video to shoot. And that jacket was fire hot… Literally.”

Harts has already had a huge 2016, releasing two hit radio singles in ‘Peculiar’ and ‘Power’, as well as touring non-stop – storming the UK and Europe earlier in the year, before returning home for a triumphant set on the hallowed Splendour In The Grass stage in July. He is now poised to unleash his sophomore album, the follow up to his critically acclaimed debut Daydreamer in 2014, and the follow up EP Breakthrough in 2015 – records that caught the attention of some of the biggest names in music, including the late, great icon Prince, who became a mentor to the young Melbourne phenom.

Despite the mammoth sonic scale already exhibited by ‘Peculiar’ and ‘Power’ and set to be revealed across all of the album’s 14 songs, Smoke Fire Hope Desire was remarkably self-recorded in Harts’ home studio in Melbourne – its impressive scope the culmination of what the “one-man music-making machine,” attributes to spending years developing his sound as a performer and a producer. The album is the sound of an artist who has locked his musical identity and his voice into his sights, and as Harts admits has allowed himself to be influenced by, “a lot of what I was seeing in the world around me – very current day issues, mixed with my own thoughts and challenges in my life.”

The result is a record that seems destined to find success on both a local and a global level.

Harts will also be embarking on the huge, national, ‘Power’ headline tour this September/October, playing club shows in Newcastle, Sydney, Geelong, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Ballarat – starting September 16. Tickets are on sale now!

The Panics Release Video For ‘Weatherman’

The Panics - General Press Photo

ARIA winning alt-rockers The Panics today unveil the official music video for ‘Weatherman’, the first official single to be lifted from their forthcoming fifth studio album, ‘Hole In Your Pocket’- set to be released in Australia, October 7 via Dew Process / UMA. The band have announced they will be embarking on a national album tour throughout October. The tour kicks off in Sydney Friday October 14 at Oxford Art Factory before heading to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth where the band will showcase brand new material as well as their much loved and revered back catalogue. Special guests to be announced and tickets are on sale now.

‘Weatherman’ with its sprawling and cinematic soundscapes and frontman Jae Laffer’s enigmatic and evocative lyrics, is familiar as the kind of rich and multi-layered composition we’ve come to love from The Panics, but gives it a new wave injection, featuring digital textures and a pulsating beat that sounds refreshed and unleashed.

The accompanying music video which premiered online via Faster Louder was directed by Matthew Jordan, who worked previously with band for the clip ‘Not Quite At Home’ (Rain On The Hummingwire 2011). Matt pulled together a small crew including director of photography and editor Wayne Bryant; he wanted to match the enormous, cinematic feeling of the track within the scale of a music video – He explains “If Weatherman was the title track to a film, what would the opening title sequence of that film look like?” And that’s how we proceeded, developing the idea of the titles and the aesthetic and imagery that plays throughout the clip, by really approaching it as a combination of old school filmic imagery like the film leaders and widescreen presentation with contemporary visuals from film or TV title sequences, showing us images of our worlds environmental decay”.

“This world is fatiguing and intriguing and strange,” Panics’ frontman Jae Laffer says. “What else can you do but paint a picture? It’s better than having nightmares about it.”

The multiple WAMI award winners have earned a numerous amount of awards and accolades. 2007’s Cruel Guards has reached Gold status in Australia and took out the J Award for ‘Album of the Year’ as well as being voted in at #62 in The Hottest 100 Australian Albums Of All Time and in 2008 took out the ARIA for ‘Best Adult Contemporary Album’. It was also nominated for two other ARIA Awards ‘Don’t Fight It’ was nominated for the ARIA for ‘Best Breakthrough Artist – Single’. The song was voted in to the number ten position in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007 and reached #43 on the ARIA singles chart.

TKAY MAIDZA RELEASES SINGLE ‘CARRY ON’ FEAT. KILLER MIKE AND ANNOUNCES ALBUM TOUR SUPPORTED BY TRIPLE J

TKAY-CARRYON-PRESS

Having already carved a name for herself as Australia’s hottest new musical superstar, Tkay Maidza today unleashes certified monster banger ‘Carry On’, featuring none other than cultural and political icon and one half of Run The Jewels – Killer Mike. ‘Carry On’ is the first official single to be lifted from her highly-anticipated, forthcoming debut album titled TKAY, which is set to shake up audiences worldwide when it is released on October 28 via Dew Process & UMA.

To celebrate the release of the album, Tkay will be playing a string of headline shows proudly supported by triple j, kicking off in New Zealand on Wednesday October 26, before heading out across Australia, including shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart. Special guests Sable and Midas.Gold will be supporting Tkay on the road for all Australian shows, fan pre-sale tickets available August 31 and general tickets are on sale September 1.

The 20-year-old, Zimbabwe-born, Adelaide-based pocket rocket with appropriate lashings of swag has proven to be a commanding force in both the Australian and international music scenes, thanks to her versatility as an emcee and vocalist, as well as the complexity of the lyrics she brings to the table.

On ‘Carry On’, Maidza fires off on her haters and lets loose a whiplash delivery that deftly sets the stage for a head-turning guest verse from Killer Mike who publically declared himself a Tkay fan multiple times throughout 2015 – first live on air in an interview on triple j where he stated of her 2015 Falls Festival performance; “I saw her perform at one of the festivals – she’s dope man, shout out to her. She’s a great human being and a dope performer too. Shout outs mama, you dope. She is dope!” and then again during a lecture the rapper gave at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Now it seems he’s not just a fan but considers her a peer, sharing the mic with her on this epic new track.

“The song is about people trying to stop my stride,” says Tkay, “but I guess what I’m trying to say is I have bigger issues that only matter to me as a youngin at this point in my career and Killer Mike is reinforcing that. Ive loved Run the Jewels for ages as they were the first act I saw at my favourite touring festival Laneway Festival. It was super inspiring to see them. We had the idea of having him on a song and reached out to his team, they were totally down. It turned out to be ‘Carry On’ :)”

“It was really cool that Mike listened to what I was saying in my verse as his verse is a conversation to mine… to him I must sound like I need guidance, and what he said was really reassuring and relevant for me. I think it’s super important to have support from someone who has so much knowledge and experience in life and music… He is the first person who is a respected and loved rapper to have said they approve of what I do so having him on the song is super special.”

Nominated for Best International Act at the 2016 BET Awards, Maidza recently lent her vocals to Martin Solveig’s chart-climbing single ‘Do It Right.’ With her past live experience, including support slots with Charli XCX, Mark Ronson, and Years & Years, she’s also just torn through a string of summer dates that have brought her blissed-out live show to bigger and bigger crowds.

She’s currently back in the UK and Europe wrapping up a run of huge shows and festival apprarences including Pukkelpop, Way Out West, Reading & Leeds. Maidza will be landing back on home soil only for a matter of weeks, performing at BIGSOUND 2016 before she jets back overseas, this time to the USA to tour with Australian producer and collaboratior, What So Not.

Fans are advised to purchase tickets for Tkay’s national album tour quickly, with the ammo of material from her debut album in her belt these shows (including all-age performances) will sell out!

THE PANICS RELEASE ‘WEATHERMAN’ AND ANNOUNCE NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR

The Panics - General Press Photo

With an illustrious career that has spanned over 15 years, The Panics continue to be an act that define the contemporary Australian indie and alternate sound with their unique voice and perspective. Today they add to that impressive track record with the release of ‘Weatherman’, the first official single to be lifted from their forthcoming fifth album, ‘Hole In Your Pocket’- set to be released in Australia, October 7 via Dew Process / UMA. To celebrate the release of the album, the band will be embarking on a national tour throughout October, kicking off in Sydney Friday October 14 at the Oxford Art Factory before heading to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Special guests to be announced and tickets are on sale now.

Featuring their trademark, big sky, cinematic soundscapes and frontman Jae Laffer’s enigmatic and evocative lyrics, ‘Weatherman’ is familiar as the kind of rich and multi-layered composition we’ve come to love from The Panics, but gives it a new wave injection, featuring digital textures and a pulsating beat that sounds refreshed and unleashed.

“This world is fatiguing and intriguing and strange,” Panics’ frontman Jae Laffer says. “What else can you do but paint a picture? It’s better than having nightmares about it.”

“When I sing ‘Don’t complain to the weatherman,’ I first thought of the Earth’s changing climate,” Laffer explains. “We’ve had fair warning. It’s not gonna fix itself… But the same applies to being burnt in life. Whether it’s one life or the human race, we have a responsibility to ourselves and to the world around us.”

Unlike 2011’s Rain On The Hummingwire, which was written, recorded & mixed in New York, ‘Hole In Your Pocket’, was produced by the band on home soil, in their studio in Melbourne.

Laffer’s songs include tales of suburbia, racism, community displacement and climate change. He drew from journal entries from his life for inspiration to create an album filled with new characters and landscapes. There is the same sense of nostalgia and imagery of Australia’s vast plains, and sometimes unforgiving landscape that has been a staple of their career and linked them to iconic acts like The Triffids, The Go Betweens and Nick Cave. But ‘Hole In Your Pocket’ filters it all through a majestic union of sound and poetry to create a movie both strange and eerily familiar, instantly arresting in its melodies and images but slow to reveal every layer of shared experience.

HARTS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM AND NATIONAL TOUR

HARTS ALBUM EDIT

Musical phenomenon Darren Hart, aka Harts, has already had a huge year in 2016.

Having released two massive singles in ‘Peculiar’ and ‘Power’, he’s been touring non-stop both locally and internationally, including a barnstorming UK and European tour, and a triumphant return to the hallowed Splendour In The Grass stage last month, playing a spectacular set backed by a horn section and driving fans wild with his captivating, on-stage showmanship.

All that hype and build-up has served as the perfect intro to Harts’ latest album, Smoke Fire Hope Desire – which is set for release September 16 via Dew Process/UMA. Recorded in Hart’s home studio in Melbourne, the LP is the culmination of the often labeled “one-man music-making machine”, (he writes everything, plays all the instruments, records and produces all his music single-handedly) spending the past few years developing his sound, both on the road and in the studio.

The record is the sound of an artist who has locked his musical identity and his voice into his sights. As Harts says, he’s allowed himself to be influenced by, “a lot of what I was seeing in the world around me – very current day issues, mixed with my own thoughts and challenges in my life.” The result is a record that seems destined to find success on both a local and a global level.

To support the release of the Smoke Fire Hope Desire, Harts will be embarking on a huge national headline tour, playing club shows in Newcastle, Sydney, Geelong, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Ballarat – starting September 16. Tickets are on sale now!

HARTS RELEASES HUGE NEW SINGLE ‘POWER’

20160221_Harts_MDoyle_03_396

Prepare yourself for the avalanche of funk, rock and psychedelia that is the massive new single from Harts – ‘Power’.

With a strutting bass line, velvety vocals and thunderous guitar riffs, the three-and-a-half minute epic sounds like it was written and recorded with the sole intention of being blasted from stadium speakers.

The track premiered on triple j’s Good Nights With Linda Marigliano show last night, and is the first single Harts has released since partnering with Dew Process / UMA last month. Harts – the brainchild of musical polymath Darren Hart – has already had a huge year following the release of his latest single ‘Peculiar’, which has ruled the airwaves over at triple j and been on regular rotation since its release in March.

JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘WE MOVE’ + NEW SINGLE ‘RISING WATER’

JVM 02_Landscape_SarahDoylePhotography_800x433

Internationally adored Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow has today announced his new album We Move, which will be released via Dew Process on September 2, with its debut single ‘Rising Water’ premiering online today.

The Nineteen85 (Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’) produced single premiered on Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World BBC Radio 1 show, and received its Australian radio premiere on triple j’s Mornings program, adding to what has already been a massive 2016 for McMorrow, who recently surpassed 100+ million streams, collaborated with Kygo on the huge single ‘I’m In Love’, and featured in the quickly-viral trailer for the latest series of Game of Thrones with his haunting cover of the Chris Isaak classic ‘Wicked Game’. Now he’s poised to continue that wave of momentum with the release of his third, full-length LP, We Move.

Written and recorded between Toronto, Dublin and London, the album is McMorrow’s most expansive, generous and ambitious record to date – following in the massive footsteps of 2010’s platinum-selling Early In The Morning and acclaimed follow-up Post Tropical, which lead to sold-out worldwide shows, including two nights at the Sydney Opera House.
JVM 02_Landscape_SarahDoylePhotography
Far from the dense, protective imagery at the heart of Post Tropical, We Move is ultimately a record open in its portrait of anxiety and social unease. For McMorrow, it’s about celebrating mental fragility and how we move forward in life, rather than, “people listening to my songs and believing that I’m out in the forest all day long, thinking about trees. Because I’m actually at home, trying to convince myself to go out and get milk.”

The first steps towards the release of We Move took place in 2014, when McMorrow – having been asked to write for different artists’ projects – started sketching out ideas for others on tour (and subsequently stopped over-analysing his own work). Intent on doing the opposite of everything he’d done thus far in his career, McMorrow then came off the road as a musician, but continued to travel and write, before returning to Dublin determined not to just produce another album himself, but to work with people who could articulate the unique world he heard in his head.

Those people eventually became a list of the who’s who of the production world, namely Nineteen85 (Drake, DVSN), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Years & Years), and Frank Dukes (Kanye West, Rihanna). Mixing took place largely in Miami with one of McMorrow’s all-time heroes, Jimmy Douglass (Jay Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake), who finessed the record’s warm, vintage sound, while still infusing it with a forward-thinking feel.

The resulting record is essentially the realisation of McMorrow’s long held musical fantasy – “I grew up wanting to write songs like Neil Young but produce them like The Neptunes”. The first single ‘Rising Water’ epitomises that concept entirely, with its starkly-produced composition reflecting his hip hop influences, while also laying the perfect foundation for the layers of McMorrow’s ethereal falsetto, with which he sings with a skyscraper-sized sense of catharsis.

It is just the first taste of what we can expect from We Move – an album that continues a remarkable journey for the Dublin-born singer/songwriter, whose early work offered little clue as to the sounds and situations that would follow. It’s a remarkably assured collection that is sure to be judged as one of the most triumphant releases of the year.

Harts Announces New Label Deal With Dew Process

The A&R Dept & Ofttime Production, along with Dew Process and UMA, are delighted to announce today that Melbourne funk, soul and rock virtuoso Harts has become a part of the Dew Process family.

We challenge you to find a more talented artist on the planet, let alone in the country. Darren Harts is a master of vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and production, so much so that he was anointed by the late, great Prince himself as an artist in his own image, and with whom he spent time jamming with at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis.

You can hear that influence, as well as those of other legends like Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix and Queen in the staggering talent tattooed all over his current hit single, ‘Peculiar’, which has been flooding the triple j airwaves in recent months. A funkified dance floor jam, it’s been inspiring swagger fuelled struts everywhere since its release back in February.

Harts released his debut album Daydreamer to mass acclaim in 2014, and has since been touring non stop both locally and internationally, having already wowed the audiences of Splendour In The Grass, Groovin’ The Moo, Byron Bay Bluesfest, and Falls Festival to name just a few.

His management team The A&R Dept & Ofttime Production have also expressed their excitement to be teaming up DP/UMA to release Harts’ music.

“After seven years of building and developing the Harts brand independently, we felt it was the right time to partner up with Paul and the DP team! Were pumped!!!”

MUMFORD & SONS SHARE NEW CLIP FOR ‘WONA’

Mumford & Sons are pleased to unveil the video to ‘Wona’, which features on their recently released collaborative mini-album, ‘Johannesburg’, available now via Dew Process & UMA.

Filmed in eight days, on three continents, visiting five countries (Senagal, Malawi, South Africa, Belgium, and the UK) director Ross Stirling (Studio Juice) flew for a total of fifty-nine hours over thirteen flights, and covered in excess of 53,000 miles in order to capture all of the artists who recorded ‘Johannesburg’.

‘Johannesburg’ is the latest collaboration in a career that thrives on them for Mumford & Sons, and a record that brings together four very different artists. The verses of ‘Wona’ are predominantly sung by Beatenberg’s Matthew Field and Senagal’s Baaba Maal, and the choruses are fronted by Marcus Mumford featuring harmonies from The Very Best, Baaba, and the rest of Cape Town’s Beatenberg, and Mumford & Sons.

The release, which follows both the acclaim and success of Mumford & Sons’ third album Wilder Mind, precedes the band’s biggest headline show to date at Hyde Park in London on the 8th July 2016 as part of the BST Series. A full supporting bill will feature all the ‘Johannesburg’ artists, alongside the likes of Alabama Shakes, Wolf Alice, and Kurt Vile.

In celebration of the record, Gentlemen of the Road are hosting pop-up galleries in both New York and London featuring the best of South Africa’s arts and culture, exclusive behind-the-scenes photography from the tour, and a series of events to showcase everything that Mumford & Sons fell in love with during their visit to the country at the beginning of the year.

‘Johannesburg’ EP Track Listing

BERNARD FANNING RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘WASTING TIME’ FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM ‘CIVIL DUSK’

As an artist in continuous motion, Bernard Fanning has accumulated one of the most celebrated and distinct songbooks on the Australian rock spectrum; charting a course from creation to an interactive live experience like no other. With his solo career now spanning 10-plus years, Fanning has firmly cemented his position as one of Australia’s finest songwriters and lyricists. From the country folk-tinged charm of his multi-platinum debut solo album Tea and Sympathy (#1 ARIA Debut) to the rock grooves and horn breaks of its follow up Departures (#1 ARIA Debut).

‘Wasting Time’ the first single from Civil Dusk, Bernard Fanning’s upcoming third solo album, is a piano driven anthem with an undercurrent of unease, a song that stands alone to both warm your heart, then break it, all at once. Displaying an odd sort of perfection, ‘Wasting Time’ is an insight into the blindness that obsession brings, and the resulting realisation that what was once an imperative need, is fast becoming a disposable one when a little distance is applied. Written in Spain during a reflective period in his life, Fanning’s unmistakable voice is in fine form, accompanied with spacious instrumentation, his instantly recognisable style is anchored with a strong chorus and a hint of melancholy.

Civil Dusk was recorded at the stunning La Cueva Studios, the new custom built studio Fanning created in NSW’s Byron Bay with long-time producer and friend Nick DiDia (Powderfinger, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine). Recording with DiDia finished up over Easter 2016, and the result is some of Fanning’s finest work: themes of decisions and consequence are characterised by a sense of warmth, space and the earthy feel of acoustic guitar, piano, strings and violin. Civil Dusk is part one of a series of two albums. The second instalment Brutal Dawn will follow in early 2017.

TIRED LION RELEASE HILARIOUS, TV-INSPIRED NEW VIDEO FOR ‘NOT MY FRIENDS’

TLE video

So no-one told you life was gonna be this way… 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼… It seems that despite their latest single’s title, Tired Lion really are your friends – well, at least the Ross and Rachel type of Friends, anyway.

In stark contrast to the thundering riffs and heavy lyric material of their latest barnstorming track ‘Not My Friends’, the Perth grunge rock four-piece aren’t concerned with taking themselves too seriously in their hilarious new video for the anthemic heavy hitter.

The clip sees all four members – Sophie Hopes, Matt Tanner, Ethan Darnell and Nick Vasey – recreating iconic scenes and intros from legendary TV shows from the late ’90s and early ’00s, including Friends, That ’70s Show, The Office, Home Improvement, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Conan, and even local music vid institution Rage.

The clip was premiered by Rolling Stone Australia, providing even more evidence that ‘Not My Friends’ has been a watershed moment for Tired Lion, with the band scoring serious international acclaim for the track from the likes of Spin, Stereogum and Pilerats to name but a few, as well as having the song added to rotation on triple j.

One of the band’s most emotionally raw and open writing efforts, front woman Sophie Hopes explained at the time of release that the song was inspired by a period in her life where she felt she lost her identity and attached herself to negative influencers.

“I have never been inclined to go to extreme lengths to ‘fit in’ but at this time in my life I was so desperate to latch on to anything that made me feel like it was worth existing,” she says.

“I eventually cut my losses, dropped the toxic people who appeared to be so pleasant to my face and moved on into a direction I chose for myself. I’m a lot happier being the outsider these days and I guess this was the song that justified the change.”

And yet, as the video suggests, this has been a time of huge celebration for the band, with the single landing just ahead of them embarking on their largest headline Australian tour to date, kicking off with a sold out show at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club tonight, before winding its way around the country.

They’re then set to take off overseas to play a string of dates around the UK and Europe throughout June, including shows on the hallowed stages of Glastonbury and Latitude, before heading home again for a triumphant return to the Splendour In The Grass stage in July.

SPRING KING SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘DETROIT’

Spring King Press Photography November 2015

“You can hear within about 20 seconds of it starting why so many people are gushing about the band.” – NME

“It was this record that I genuinely referred to constantly. It came with me from the UK over to America, and I couldn’t stop listening to it.” – Zane Lowe

“Punchy, heavy and, like all good garage rock, the amps turned up to 11 on everything… will have you hooked as soon as you hear it.” – Howl & Echoes

“Part of a new vanguard of UK-bred garage rock…Spring King are ones to keep an eye on.” – Tone Deaf

The march towards the release of their debut album continues to gain speed and intensity for UK garage rockers Spring King, with the release today of yet another bona fide banger in brand-new single ‘Detroit.’

The rollicking track is everything we’ve come to expect from the Manchester four-piece bottled into a pure, volatile potion  steel wool distorted guitars, crackling fireworks drumming, and a burst your lungs chorus you need to swim to the top of the mosh pit in order to scream.

The song made its worldwide debut on triple j’s 2016 show with Richard Kingsmill, who declared the station had been in love with the band since they first heard ‘City’.

The song arrives only weeks ahead of the release of Tell Me If You Like To (Out June 10 in Australia via Dew Process / UMA), which will precede the group’s premiere voyage to Australian shores as part of the Splendour In The Grass festival line-up and their own co-headline tour of sideshows with Philadelphia punks Beach Slang.

Featuring drumming/singing/producing machine Tarek Musa, guitarists Pete Darlington and Andrew Morton, as well as bassist James Green, Spring King have already released an impressive string of killer hits for such a young band, with ‘City’, ‘Who Are You?’, ‘Rectifier’, ‘The Summer’ and now ‘Detroit’ leading critics and fans to speculate that Tell Me If You Like To is already locked and loaded to be one of the biggest rock records of 2016.

Having toured with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Slaves and FIDLAR, as well as playing SXSW, The Great Escape and one of the stand out performances at last year’s instalment of the legendary Reading Festival – they’ve also got a fearsome reputation as a barnstorming live force that we can’t wait to see come July.

‘Detroit’ is available now here.

Tell Me If You Like To will be available from June 10 via Dew Process / UMA.

Pre-order the standard issue here and the deluxe issue here.

THE LIVING END RELEASE BEAUTIFUL NEW VIDEO FOR ‘KEEP ON RUNNING’

TLE-General-Press-Shot-1-web

“The track is an emotive power ballad that has more in common with contemporary acts like Gang Of Youths than the band’s early days.” – Rip It Up

“’Keep On Running’ is acutely moving and hopeful.” – Stack

“Raw, emotional and reflective.” – Music Feeds

“They’re back to reclaim their rightful place as Australia’s kings of rock.” – Tone Deaf

Just days out from the release of their seventh album Shift, The Living End today release a beautiful new video for their emotive single, ‘Keep On Running’.

Featuring an old man in his late ’80s who lives a minimalist life but adheres to an incredible physical workout regime that has kept his fitness levels beyond that of what a man his age would be expected to achieve, the video is a clear, yet charming play on the sweeping ballad’s lyrics and title. After all, he just keeps… on… running.

Director Dumitrescu Tiberiu Bogdan, who discovered the octogenarian athlete, said he was drawn to his subject by the idea of the man being a modern day Hermes – the Olympian god for athleticism.“He runs like crazy at 88 years old,” says Bogdan.“That’s why I thought he can be a modern Hermes. The idea was that we are blind enough not to see that fairytales characters or, in this case, a mythological god, still live amongst us. We get too caught in the moment and we miss the opportunity for a good story.”

The Living End frontman, Chris Cheney, says the video perfectly captures the intent behind the song’s lyrics.

“Both the song and the video are like nothing TLE have done before,” he says. “Yet they both embody the spirit of what this band represents.
“The video captures the message and feel of the song. The struggle, the fight, overcoming adversity and the need to keep on keeping on.”

Having taken a five year break after the release of the ARIA award-winning The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating, The Living End are poised to finally return to the spotlight with the release of Shift this Friday, May 13.

The lead single from Shift, ‘Keep on Running’ has already resonated with generations of TLE fans as one of the most powerful songs of their two-decade career, scoring airplay across both triple j and double j.
It’s also a deeply personal song for Cheney, who co-wrote the track with his friends Dylan Berry & Stefan Litrownik during an emotionally turbulent period in his life.
“We all have moments where life is getting the better of us, but that’s when you draw strength and come out the other side stronger,” Cheney says.

The band’s Australian tour supporting the album has already sold out multiple shows, and will play major theatres around the country starting with a sold out performance on June 10 at The Tivoli in Brisbane and finishing in Adelaide at The Gov on June 26.

TIRED LION RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘NOT MY FRIENDS’

Tired Lion - Press Photo -Website

“We’ve said it before, Perth bands rock. Tired Lion is the shining, grunge fuelled example.” – Hhhhappy

After tearing 2015 a new one with their universally praised EP Figurine, Tired Lion finally return today with highly anticipated new music in the form of huge new single, ‘Not My Friends.’

Featuring searing guitar licks, thunderous drumming, thicker than blood bass lines and Sophie Hopes inimitable vocals, the track replicates the perfect formula of grunge gritty versus big hook pretty we’ve come to expect from the rising Perth four-piece, while also honing the anthemic quality of their songwriting that has quickly established them as one of Australia’s most popular new rock acts.

The song also stands as one of Hopes’ most emotionally raw and open writing efforts, as she explains it was inspired by a period in her life where she felt she lost her identity and attached herself to negative influencers.

Spring King Announce Debut Album Tell Me If You Like To

SK_PressShot

Explosive UK garage rockers, Spring King, have announced they’ll be releasing their highly anticipated debut album ‘Tell Me If You Like To’ on June 10 in Australia via Dew Process / UMA.

The LP release will precede the group’s recently announced premiere voyage to Australian shores as part of the Splendour In The Grass festival line-up and their own co-headline tour of sideshows with Philadelphia punks Beach Slang.

The Manchester four-piece consists of drumming/singing/producing machine Tarek Musa, guitarists Pete Darlington and Andrew Morton, as well as bassist James Green, who have already released a string of killer hits from the record, with ‘City’, ‘Who Are You?’ and ‘Rectifier’ leading critics and fans to speculate that Tell Me If You Like To is already locked and loaded to be one of the biggest rock records of 2016.

To coincide with the release, the band has also dropped a brand-new track ‘The Summer’, an ode to their love for The Beach Boys and yet another absolute jam off the record that premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show this week.

After emerging in 2014, the four-piece has spent the last couple of years surfing a tidal wave of hype, thanks to being championed by the likes of big name UK DJs Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, as well as major Australian alt radio stations triple j and FBi. They’ve grown to become favourites of a hefty list of cultural tastemakers, including NME, The Guardian, Stereogum, DIY and The Line of Best Fit internationally, as well the likes of Music Feeds, Hhhhappy, Howl & Echoes, Tone Deaf and The Music here in Oz.

Mumford & Sons Announce ‘Johannesburg’ EP with Baaba Maal, The Very Best and Beatenberg

M&S

Mumford & Sons are very proud to announce details of a new set of recordings entitled “Johannesburg”, made with Baaba Maal, Beatenbergand The Very Best. It will be released in Australia on the 17th June 2016 via Dew Process & UMA. The songs were recorded in Studio 2 and the Auditorium of the The South African Broadcasting Corporation, Johannesburg in February over two all-day-and–all–night sessions and produced by Mumford & Sons and The Very Best’s Swedish electronic music maestro, Johan Hugo. The lead track, ‘There Will Be Time‘, went straight to number 1 in South Africa (the band’s first number 1 single) upon release in late January.

Earlier this year, Mumford & Sons embarked on an historic, sell-out tour of South Africa. The Very Best were integral in this trip to South Africa, not just as part of the touring line-up, but in terms of putting together a team for the studio time.

So with The Very Best Very Much on board for studio action, and with Senegal’s favourite son Baaba just a phone call away, there had to be a young South African band that could step up to the plate and make music that connected the dots. Beatenberg were the one.

A studio was booked in Johannesburg. Not a conventional recording studio, again, that would be far too easy.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation had a room. It had two. Literally, two rooms. A few corridors away, and around the corner. It was a magnificent building though, all imposing wood panelling and endless corridors leading to more corridors. It had something a bit brutalist about it. It had a vibe.

‘There Will Be Time’ is available digitally here
Johannesburg will be released in Australia June 17, pre-order here.

Spring King announce Australian dates with Beach Slang!

beach[2]

On top of their already announced appearance at Splendour in the Grass, Spring King have announced dates in Australia with Beach Slang.

It wasn’t long after Manchester’s own Spring King burst onto the scene in 2014 that they secured themselves as “one of the most exciting live bands in the country” (DIY), and had none other than Zane Lowe as a fan. The legendary taste maker and radio host not only loved the band, he decided to make them a part of history – choosing their song ‘City’ as the very first song he would play on his debut broadcast of Apple’s Beats 1 radio. They’ve since grown to become favourites of the likes of NMEThe GuardianStereogumDIY and The Line of Best Fit, have been play-listed at Radio 1, 6 Music and triple j, toured with Courtney Barnett, Slaves and FIDLAR, as well as playing one of the breakout performances at last year’s installment of the legendary Reading Festival – and that’s all without an album out! The bands latest track is ‘Rectifier’ premiered in the UK as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World on her BBC Radio 1 show, and then made its Australian radio debut on triple j.

Tired Lion Sign To Dew Process! National Tour and Glastonbury Appearance To Come

Tired Lion 2016

“’Suck’ – all Nineties soft-quiet dynamics with a killer melodic twist and a hook begging to be shouted at summer festivals: ‘I’m strung out, I’m strung out, I’m strung out!’” – Rolling Stone Australia

After seizing Australian rock fans by the scruff of their necks in 2015 – winning triple j’s prestigious Unearthed Award, tearing down the main stage at Splendour In The Grass, claiming the WAMI for Best Rock Song, and supporting the likes of The 1975, Kingswood and Luca Brasi – Dew Process and UMA are tremendously proud to announce that Perth’s Tired Lion have become a part of our family of artists.

And if you think the combination Sophie Hopes, Matt Tanner, Ethan Darnell and Nick Vasey dominated 2015 off the back of killer singles like ‘Suck’ and ‘I Don’t Think You Like Me’, then you’d better hold on for what’s in store for the epic year ahead.

Firstly, they’re embarking on their first ever UK/European tour – including playing the Glastonbury Festival in June. Yes, that Glastonbury. So much for, “no Aussie bands on the line-up this year.” They’ll be standing on the same hallowed stages that have filled music fans’ dreams for generations, alongside the likes of Adele, PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, and Muse to name but a few.

Secondly, they’re going to be giving fans one last chance to catch them live before their UK/Europe invasion with a whirlwind tour of Australia, including rock clubs in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and their hometown Perth, starting May 19. Tickets are on sale Thursday, April 14 at 9:00am AEST.

Tired Lion are stalking 2016 like a piece of juicy prey. We’re just happy they are letting us hang out close enough to enjoy the hunt.

Isaac Gracie – Songs From My Bedroom

issaccwebsiteIsaac Gracie is pleased to announce the release of debut EP, ‘Songs From My Bedroom’ in Australia, out now via Dew Process & UMA.

21-year-old British musician Isaac Gracie has the world at his feet. Growing up in Ealing, the son of poet, Judith Gracie, Isaac wrote his first songs at the age of fourteen. Inspired by familiar greats in the Buckleys, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan, Isaac had an instinctive knack for writing a devastating melody, and a voice honed to precision.

Studying English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, Isaac uploaded a self-produced Garageband demo to BBC Introducing in the UK Summer of 2015 (the latter day equivalent of farming out CD demos or MySpace links to ‘the industry’). The song in question was called ‘Last Words’, a dusty lament aided by the crackle and hiss of inexperience, and some 100,000 plays later (+ top spot on Spotify’s UK viral chart), its creator’s journey is about to get started.

Isaac has become streetwise with support tours alongside The Japanese House and Blaenavon, and a first-on packed house at West London’s influential Blue Flowers night. The EP sounds exactly what it is, recorded at home with the same limited equipment that made ‘Last Words’ such a moment, and with the same sense of tenderness and atmosphere.

The years of choral practice instilled into that voice from an early age as a young member of Ealing’s Abbey Choir, resonates here with anxiety and wit. Never too much, never too forced. There’s emotion without the emoting. It’s the sound of a young artist with talent still raw, but what a talent it is.

The EP features five such vulnerable laments. It’s fronted by ‘Terrified’, a song with the same immediacy as ‘Last Words’, a song that pushes Isaac’s vocal-take into the red, confiding and questioning with words of hesitancy and solace. An electric guitar and a broken voice.  So simple, but so breathtaking. The track was premiered on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World.

Over the course of the EP, you get a very real idea for who Isaac is, and ultimately where he will be going.  His music sits in a league of its own, clearly distinct from the bursting stable of endless male artists. He’s the real deal. No question.

Following an acclaimed spot at BBC Introducing’s SXSW showcase in Austin, Texas WATCH IT HERE, Isaac Gracie headlines the Waiting Room in London on the 10th May as well as performing at The Great Escape May 19.

Ecca Vandal Announces Tour With Tuka, Drops Lyric Video For ‘Truth To Trade’

ecca.presser

Ecca Vandal managed to raise the bar and lift the roof off the place… She is a force to be reckoned with, between her fiery stage presence and genre-defying bangers. The crowd was probably the rowdiest this reviewer has ever seen at this venue, but they only mimicked the energy Vandal was radiating.” The Music

Ecca Vandal continues her march to prominence today with the release of new single ‘Truth To Trade’, the latest single to be lifted from her tremendous debut EP End Of Time, available now via Dew Process / UMA.

Truth To TradeHere’s a new video people!! Me and the A team whipped this up over the last 5 days for TRUTH TO TRADE!!! Featuring all the party kids that came to my shows throughout my first national headline tour last month!! Thanks to all y’all who came down to make these shows so special !! Tag yourselves in the comments if you were there!!! X

Posted by ECCA VANDAL on Monday, March 28, 2016

Coming in at just under three blistering minutes, ‘Truth To Trade’ is Vandal at her explosive best, tapping into the raw punk rock energy that feeds so much of her eclectic sound. The song has already been declared by Music Feeds asa high contender for the EP standout(Truth To Trade) packs an absolute punch. The opening beat is reminiscent of the Space Invaders-era arcade games, but suddenly it retires to leave us glaring down the barrel of rich, fat guitar riffs ebbing beneath a borderline rapping Ecca, who positively howls through the chorus with maximum control”

The lyric video is cut together with scorching live footage from Vandal’s raucous recent headlines shows including a heaving crowd at a sold out Newtown Social Club.

Ecca Vandal says of the track “I was reading the graphic novel ‘V for Vendetta’ around the time I was writing this track. It all started with the pretty twisted beat at the beginning of the track, which got me dancing around the studio pretty much immediately. Kidnot and I shaped up the beat a little more together and then tracked guitars in the same day. Sonically there was a particular mood that linked back to the book I was reading so there is a loose tie between the lyrical concept of Truth To Trade and V for Vendetta.”

Ecca Vandal has just wrapped up her first triumphant lap of the country for her triple j supported national debut headline EP launch shows, playing frenzied and feverish sets to packed out audiences, with the likes of Sydney’s The Brag announcing her Newtown Social Club show as “Such a composed yet frenetic performance and dominant stage presence from an artist who’s just released her debut EP is a certain measure of what can only be big things ahead for Ecca Vandal.”

Those shows simply added to the mounting reputation she has as a superb live performer, having previously wowed crowds opening for the likes of electro rock kings The Prodigy and Scottish Mercury Prize-winning trio Young Fathers. Now Ecca Vandal will be hitting the road again in April as lead support for Sydney hip hop artist Tuka.

EVES THE BEHAVIOR TAKES BEST VIDEO AT THE QUEENSLAND MUSIC AWARDS

Eves

In a ceremony held at the Brisbane Powerhouse last night, the winners of the 2016 Queensland Music Awards were announced. Congratulations to our very own Eves The Behavior (Hannah Karydas) for winning Best Music Video for ‘TV’. Our sister label Create/Control artist Sahara Beck also took out Folk Singer/Songwriter category for her song ‘Mother Mother’.

Eves The Behvior was the only artist with three nominations (across two categories): ‘TV’ (Best Pop, Best Music Video) and ‘Electrical’ (Best Music Video). Her mesmerising film clip for ‘TV’ was directed by the ARIA-award nominated Josh Logue (who has worked with Empire of the Sun, Madonna, The Flaming Lips and Death Cab for Cutie). Hannah says about the compelling clip:

“The initial concept started with the cinematic landscapes of David lynch films (circa Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive). I wanted a bunch of characters, which were created from some of my favourite literature. For example, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. We filled a room with strong characters and then placed me in it, turning me into a character too. Welcome to my space – it is perfect for the song and a perfect introduction to what comes next.”

Hannah, who was unable to attend the ceremony, is currently residing in London working on her debut album alongside song writer Samuel Dixon (Sia, Adele) and Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint. Karydas spoke to The Music recently regarding her QMA nomination and imparted details of the writing process “It’s my first record, so I’m sort of like feeling in the dark as to how to make a record, you know?” she admits. “‘Cause I’ve never done this before. It’s a lotta fun — it’s not stressful, it’s just more like I sometimes have days where I freak out [about] whether I’m doing it the right way and then I realise, ‘Well, it’s completely up to me, I can do it however I want’.

The Living End Announce New Album + National Tour

TLE-General-Press-Shot-1-web

“The Living End seem destined to follow in the footsteps of AC/DC – doggedly releasing increasingly solid records, touring their asses off and growing louder and more impressive with every live show.” – Rolling Stone

“The Living End can’t be touched through incandescent exuberance, crowd appeal, pure talent, and the fact that they fucking personify punk rock.” – Beat Magazine

“It will forever be impossible to get sick of watching these guys live.”

– The Music Network

Australian rock and roll kings The Living End have finally returned – refreshed, rejuvenated and with a brand-new swagger.

Having taken a five year break after the release of the ARIA award winning The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating, The Living End today rightfully reclaim the Australian rock throne with the release of latest single ‘Keep on Running’ and the announcement of their seventh album Shift – which is out on Dew Process / UMA on May 13.

‘Keep on Running’ is one of the most powerful songs of The Living End’s career. Full of swelling strings and acoustic strums, it’s also a deeply personal song for The Living End front-man Chris Cheney, who co-wrote the track with his friends Dylan Berry & Stefan Litrownik during an emotionally turbulent period in his life.

“We all have moments where life is getting the better of us, but that’s when you draw strength and come out the other side stronger,” Cheney says.

The band also recently teased the album announcement with the release of the track ‘Monkey’, which is vintage TLE – punk rock smashed into rockabilly creating the kind of amped up anthem that had fans salivating at first listen over the prospects of the album ahead.

The one-two combo of ‘Keep on Running’ and ‘Monkey’ highlight that Shift is the hardline sound of a band on the warpath. Pity the fool in its sights. The Living End has a history of tough talk. There have been riots, revolutions and resistance, and Chris Cheney, Scott Owen and Andy Strachan have never been afraid to break out the artillery. What makes Shift so different is the unflinching candour. Shift is a first-person fight club.

The band has also announced an Australian tour to support the record, playing major theatres around the country starting June 10 at The Tivoli in Brisbane.

Last Dinosaurs Announce Run Of Intimate Shows

Last-Dinoasurs-'Miracle-Methods'-Tour-General-Press-Photo

Last Dinosaurs have only just set their feet back on home soil, fresh off the back of two massive headline shows in Asia (their sixth Asia tour in the last four years) but have hit the ground running with the announcement that they will be already back on the road in May for their Australian ‘Miracle Methods’ headline tour. The ‘Miracle Methods’ tour kicks off Friday May 20, in Adelaide and will head to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Dino’s fans, prepare to shake off the chill of those autumn nights and get your dance on in these up close and personal club shows.

These shows offer fans a chance to see Last Dinosaurs perform on stages not seen since the early days of their career. And considering their 2015 Oxford Art Factory headline performance sold out in less than 48 hours, fans will need to get their skates on if they want to get their hot little hands on tickets to these gigs.

The ‘Miracle Methods’ tour name is snatched from the lyrics of their ‘Apollo’ single, which lead singer Sean Caskey declares “It’s about finding and opening the keyhole to creativity in music. How to access and tap into what is needed to create.”

Last Dinosaurs have teamed up with tastemaker site Pilerats to give fellow musicians and producers access to that creative keyhole with the opportunity to remix their track ‘Apollo’ – offering the reward of a custom Ryusuke Effects guitar pedal, handmade by Sean Caskey himself. Download the audio stems for ‘Apollo’ here and submit your remix by Wednesday May 18, for your chance to become a part of Last Dinosaurs history.

The Brisbane four-piece recently released their captivating new video for the third official single ‘Wurl’ – the latest track lifted off their stellar 2015, LP Wellness. ‘Wurl’ is the kind of effervescent, sun-drenched track that swirls with phased out guitars, pitter patter drum beats, and fuzzy vocals that combine to float you on a dream-like ride to the ends of the disco rainbow. The video, directed by newcomer Harry Deadman, is a psychedelic and frenetic trip into the idea of stimulation overload, recreating old social and medical science experiments.

Last Dinosaurs kicked off 2016 with a support for Brit-pop favourites, The Wombats for their one and only Australian headline show at the Hordern Pavilion, as well as their own sold-out, co-headline show with San Cisco at Melbourne Zoo Twilights. Of their recent tour of Asia, their Bangkok show sold out on pre-sale plus saw the band headline 3000+ capacity music festival The 6th Music Gallery in Jakarta.

2015 was a massive year for Last Dinos off the release of the shimmering slice of indie guitar-pop and dance floor psychedelia that was Wellness. They scored a top 20 debut in the ARIA Charts, drew massive crowds to the main stage at Splendour In The Grass, embarked on two national headline tours (including some of the biggest venues of their career including the Enmore Theatre in Sydney) and rounded it all out by headlining their hometown Brisbane’s Valley Fiesta and the sold out Beyond The Valley Festival.

Spring King Release Banging New Video For ‘Rectifier’

springkingrectifier

“‘Rectifier’ rages through distorted chorus hooks and chant-along breakdowns with unstoppable momentum – something that the outfit seem to have in droves.” – The Line Of Best Fit

“It contains everything you’ve come to love about Spring King – the crisp build up, the distorted vocals and the delicious pop touch beneath the noise.” – Clash

“You can hear within about 20 seconds of it starting why so many people are gushing about the band.” – NME

“It was this record that I genuinely referred to constantly. It came with me from the UK over to America, and I couldn’t stop listening to it.” – Zane Lowe

The rise of Spring King, the UK’s new spearheads of garage rock, has been meteoric to say the least.

And now the band have captured just how intense that escalation of fame and attention has been with their brilliant new video for latest banger ‘Rectifier’.

Featuring a series of shots that rotate around drummer/vocalist/head honcho Tarek Musa, the video is essentially a mini biopic covering the band’s entire evolution in four minutes – from Musa bashing on his crappy drum kit in his basement and writing the song’s bare bones; through to jamming the idea out with his mates; recording bedroom demos; hitting the studio to make a record; and then finally unleashing the song’s brutal force onto heaving crowds.

‘Rectifier’ premiered in the UK last month as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World on her BBC Radio 1 show, and then made its Australian radio debut on triple j – its heavy beats landing like dropped bags of cement, guitar notes echoing into deep outer space, and Tarek Musa’s post punk vocals urging you to bark along with him as the whole chaotic ride builds into the party anthem chorus.

It followed on from the electrifying singles ‘Who Are You?’ and ‘City’ – the later of which made history when it premiered as the very first song legendary taste maker Zane Lowe played on his debut broadcast of Apple’s Beats 1 radio.

They’ve since grown to become favourites of the likes of NME, Clash, The Guardian, Stereogum, DIY and The Line of Best Fit; have been play-listed at Radio 1, 6 Music, triple j and FBi Radio; toured with Courtney Barnett, Slaves and FIDLAR, as well as playing one of the breakout performances at last year’s instalment of the legendary Reading Festival – and that’s all before the release of their debut record!

Spring King are drummer/vocalist/producer Tarek Musa, guitarists Peter Darlington and Andrew Morton and bassist James Green.

Watch Little May’s New Video For Remind Me And Design Their Next Headline Tour Poster

LM

Pioneering indie outfit Little May made a name of themselves with the release of their debut album For the Company, the Aaron Brooking Dessner (The National) produced record that quickly became triple j’s feature album and FBi’s ‘Album of the Week’.

Today the band continue to keep those waves flowing with the release of the colourful accompanying clip to the single ‘Remind Me’ – a creative collaboration with renowned Sydney visual artist EARS.

With a reputation for spell binding harmonies and intoxicating melodies, ‘Remind Me’ introduced a heavier side of Little May’s atmospheric sound when it first appeared on For The Company – electric guitars replacing acoustic, and heavy percussion, the foundation upon which they built a dense soundscape. Using a combination of milk, water, oil and food dye, as well as hundred  of hundreds of hundreds and thousands, EARS’ visual interpretation builds on that sound with a mesmerizing collection of colourful liquid shots perfectly complementing the energy and pacing of the song.

Little May are no strangers to creative collaboration, having previously worked with EARS as part of their unique Art For The Company exhibition, which took place in Sydney in October 2015 in conjunction with the release of For The Company. The exhibition enlisted the help of 11 of their favourite local artists to visually interpret each of the songs on their debut album and featured other renowned local artists like Furry Little Peach and Serpent & the Swan.

Little May have also just announced that they are poised to embark on their largest ever tour on home soil this May, performing headline shows in some of the largest venues they’ve played in major cities and regional centres across the entire country. The tour will follow on from their shows as the main support to Canadian superstars City & Colour on their Australian tour throughout March and April.

And ever the community supporters, Little May are proud to announce the #artforthecompany tour poster competition, inviting designers and visual artists to again collaborate with the band by helping to create the poster artwork for the upcoming tour. The winner will have their poster distributed across the country, as well as a prize pack fit for any aspiring creative. Full details at littlemaymusic.com/artforthecompany

All three projects are just the next steps in what has been a whirlwind two-year period for the group, who have clocked up a staggering 20 million+ Spotify streams, topped the hype machine charts, sold out shows across France, Germany, the US, UK and Australia, and gained airplay across BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, KCRW and triple j.

Watch The New Last Dinosaurs Video For ‘Wurl’ As They Announce Upcoming Asia Tour Dates

befd7974-1126-4fd3-8871-1251223f9689

“the Sunshine State’s indie pop rock four-piece are back with a slew of summer anthems… Last Dinosaurs’ second album journeys to a tropical soundscape soaked in their signature shimmering guitar riffs and melancholic vocals… Whether it catapults you into self-discovery or summertime, Last Dinosaurs’ second album will leave a lasting impression either way.”  – The Music

It seems like the lasting euphoric affects of their sophomore record Wellness are set to endure with the announcement today that Last Dinosaurs have dropped a brand-new music video for latest single ‘Wurl’ alongside the announcement of two headline show dates in Asia for March 2016.

Described by tastemakers like Howl & Echoes as “an irresistible sonic journey” ‘Wurl’ is the kind of effervescent, sun-drenched track that swirls with phased out guitars, pitter patter drum beats, and fuzzy vocals that combine to float you on a dream-like ride to the ends of the disco rainbow.

Singer and guitarist Sean Caskey says of the track “Wurl was written when we were taking a break to write music in a remote Japanese town. When I came home I built my first guitar pedal and came up with the lead riffs while testing it out. The song is about coming to terms with losing someone close to you because at the time a family member was dying. So this is kind of a dedication to them.”

The video for ‘Wurl’ premiered online earlier today via Pages Digital, was directed & produced by Harry Deadman, who says of the clip “The concept for the ‘Wurl’ video really came about after a discussion with Sean and Michael. The idea of recreating old social and science experiments was the early foundation of the idea. From there, we pushed the concept a bit and added in small setups of our own, always centered on the idea of spinning. The idea of ‘stimulation overload’, whereby a lot of information is given in a short space of time, furthered the idea of an experiment-taking place.”

The band has set a track record for releasing great videos from Wellness, with the clip for ‘Apollo’, which was directed by bass player Michael Sloane, being nominated for Best Video at the Queensland Music Awards 2016.

2015 was a massive year for the Brisbane’s four-piece, with the shimmering slice of indie guitar-pop and dance floor psychedelia that was Wellness scoring a top 20 debut in the ARIA Chart, as they performed to massive crowds on the main stage at Splendour In The Grass, embarked on two national headline tours (including some of the biggest venues of their career like the Enmore Theatre in Sydney) and rounding out the end of the year headlining Brisbane’s Valley Fiesta and a sold out Beyond The Valley Festival.

2016 see momentum for the four lads is only getting stronger, with the band kicking off the new year with a support for brit-pop trio, The Wombats for their one and only Australian headline show at the Hordern Pavilion plus an upcoming sold out show with San Cisco at Melbourne Zoo Twilights Friday February 26. And now Last Dinosaurs are set to return to Asia for their 4th tour in recent years, with fellow Aussies Panama in support, for some epic concerts at Kuningan City Grand Ballroom in Jakarta, Indonesia and Live RCA Bangkok in Thailand. Stay tuned for more touring news to be announced soon.

Spring King Sign To Dew Process!!

springking

“It was this record that I genuinely referred to constantly. It came with me from the UK over to America, and I couldn’t stop listening to it.” – Zane Lowe

That song you haven’t been able to shake out of your head for weeks now – that’s Spring King’s ‘Who Are You?’

The blistering garage rock masterpiece has been frying the airwaves on high rotation on triple j its shoes-in-a-tumble-dryer drumming, scorching guitars, and soul-cleansing sax solo sending you into hyper drive as you scream out “WHO! ARE! YOU?!”

So it’s with great delight that Dew Process and UMA can now officially announce that we have signed the killer Manchester four-piece and that you’re going to have to clear a bunch of head space for a whole new ear worm, with the release of the band’s new single ‘Rectifier’.

‘Rectifier’ premiered over night in the UK as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World on her BBC Radio 1 show, and then made its Australian radio debut on triple j this morning – its heavy beats landing like dropped bags of cement, guitar notes echoing into deep outer space, and Tarek Musa’s post punk vocals urging you to bark along with him as the whole chaotic ride builds into the party anthem chorus.

It’s just another push on the gas pedal for the incredible momentum that Spring King have managed to accelerate in the last year. Headed up by drummer/vocalist/producer Musa and featuring guitarists Pete Darlington and Andrew Morton as well as bassist James Green, Spring King is a band whose rise has been so spectacular, it’s literally never going to be repeated – and no that’s not hyperbole.

After emerging in 2014, early singles got heat, buzz started to hum like a broken amp, and they were steadily building their audience. Then they made a new fan in a guy by the name of Zane Lowe and all hell broke loose.

The legendary taste maker and radio host not only loved the band, he decided to make them a part of history – choosing their song ‘City’ as the very first song he would play on his debut broadcast of Apple’s Beats 1 radio. Ever since that watershed moment, the rest of the world has been trying to catch up with just how electrifying this band is.

They’ve since grown to become favourites of the likes of NME, The Guardian, Stereogum, DIY and The Line of Best Fit; have been play-listed at Radio 1, 6 Music and triple j; toured with Courtney Barnett, Slaves and FIDLAR, as well as playing one of the breakout performances at last year’s instalment of the legendary Reading Festival – and that’s all without an album out!

With the revs well and truly in the red, and considering how much heat is already surrounding bangers like ‘Who Are You?’ and ‘Rectifier’ odds are it’s only a matter of time before this band completely explodes.

Ecca Vandal Drops Debut EP ‘End Of Time’ TODAY

ebebd266-78c3-4186-bf61-f27ae8870153

“Intoxicating… Vandal’s ceaseless charisma and fascinating experiments force you to hang on every beat”The Line of Best Fit

Ecca Vandal, without warning today Friday January 29, releases her debut EP titled ‘End Of Time’ via Dew Process / UMA.

The ‘End Of Time’ EP, loaded with the one-two combo of current single ‘End Of Time’ and previous single ‘Battle Royal,’ is fleshed out with three new cuts – ‘Truth 2 Trade,’ ‘Divided’ and ‘Running At People Exiting’ – all adding to her already incredibly impressive repertoire and exploring the peripheries of her unique perspective on Australian art and culture.

South African born with Sri Lankan heritage, the Melbourne singer/producer/performer has forced the Australian music scene and media to stand at attention, captivating fans and critics alike with her unique persona, approach and swag of influences. It is Ecca Vandal’s refusal to remain static that leads us to where we find ourselves now, in the aftermath of Vandal once again skating off the expected path and surprising us all by dropping her debut EP End Of Time without warning. Ecca Vandal says of the surprise release “Whenever there are expectations, or whenever there is a formula set, that’s the time to change direction,” she explains. “That is essentially the essence of this – pivoting whenever anyone senses there’s a trend, or challenging myself to go in a different direction.”

Ecca Vandal’s triple j supported national headline ‘End Of Time’ tour kicks off next month on Saturday February 20, in Perth and takes in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney.

Don’t miss your chance to see Ecca Vandal live at these upcoming headline shows. Watch www.eccavandal.com for all the latest releases and news.

Oh Wonder Release Video For ‘Lose It’ & Perform It On Conan

Ow

“the London duo’s groove-heavy brand of electro pop is worth the wait. Their chemistry is undeniable… The young band look like they’re genuinely having a blast and it’s no wonder they’re selling out shows the world over already… Definitely a band to watch.” The Music

2015 was the year Oh Wonder trashed the rulebook. They wrote, recorded and posted a track on online every month and, at the end of the year, released the results; their self-titled debut album. With over 100 million streams, Oh Wonder are defying the boundaries of the traditional album campaign.

Fresh from their recent visit to Australia where they played to packed out audiences at The Falls Music & Arts Festival, as well as their own sold our debut headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, plus a prestigious support slot with Halsey at the Metro Theatre. The London duo, now release their incredible new music video for ‘Lose It’, the video was premiered on Buzzfeed overnight.

For the filming of the video, Oh Wonder invited dancers to a ‘fake’ audition for the chance to play a starring role of the ‘Lose It’ clip, little did the auditionees know that the cameras were already rolling and were surprised by confetti cannons and a line of backup dancers, what unfolds is truly heartwarming and incredible to watch. Oh Wonder says of the video “In the music video for ‘Lose It’, we wanted to capture the song’s sense of being uninhibited in one’s self-expression through dance. We asked five dancers to audition for our next music video and perform a routine they had choreographed. However, what they didn’t realize was that they were actually starring in the video amidst a troop of dancers hiding behind a curtain. When the curtain drops to reveal the chorus dancers, you see each auditionee uncertain and surprised, but once they lose their control and inhibition they are drawn into improvising with the other dancers. The dancers were truly losing it, in every sense of the word. And it was magical to watch!”

We’re a few weeks into 2016 and the band have just finished a US tour that sold out in under an hour where they stopped by to perform ‘Lose It’, live in the studio with Conan O’Brien http://teamcoco.com/video/oh-wonder-01-20-16.

The band sold out two nights at both ICA and Village Underground, as well as US and European tour dates before setting a foot onstage. Their debut shows in September 2015 at London’s ICA were met with huge acclaim and they’re about to play their biggest sold out hometown headline show at Kentish Town Forum on 17th March.

Oh Wonder’s breakout success has cemented their reputation as ‘Artists To Watch 2015’ with BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe listing ‘Lose It’ as ‘Next Hype’. British Press The Guardian awarded them the influential New Band Of The Week accolade and the likes of DIY Magazine proclaiming of the song “Slick to the extreme, and backed with booming piano lines and organic instrumentation, this is pop done right.” Oh Wonder also landed at #2 in The Hype Machine’s annual Zeitgeist list, most blogged about bands of 2015.

Art Of Sleeping Drop New Single ‘The Cage’

AOS-PRESS

Art Of Sleeping release latest single ‘The Cage’ from their 2015 debut LP ‘Shake Shiver’. The Brisbane lads are set to hit the road again this week and will be joining Boy & Bear as lead support on their national ‘Limit Of Love’ album tour. ‘The Limit Of Love’ tour kicks off this Friday the 22nd of Jan at The Odeon in Hobart and will see them travel across six states to perform for some of their biggest audiences to date including the Riverstage.

On ‘The Cage’, the brooding final track and closer of ‘Shake Shiver’, Caleb’s vocals burn with intensity – tweaking his tones to simple yet devastating effect, and thundering percussion from brothers Jean-Paul and Francois with deft drums and blistering bass to create a tumultuous finale.

“’The Cage’ came together when we were staying at a property near Mt Warning to work on our album ‘Shake Shiver’. It was one of those songs that just materialised during a jam and felt really natural as it came together. The arrangement and instrumentation didn’t change much from the first time we played it through to the final recording. The song is collectively one of our favourite songs to play and becomes even more dynamic and emotive in a live setting.”

Caleb Hodges

2015 saw Art Of Sleeping put their own spin on Drake’s Billboard #1 hit ‘Hotline Bling’ for triple j’s esteemed ‘Like A Version’ segment, showing of their signature guitar riffs and Caleb’s crooning vocals that lends itself perfectly to Drizzy’s sexy slow jam. The band travelled extensively across the country with two national headline tours in support of their debut LP and performed at Splendour In The Grass. They also supported fellow Aussies The Jungle Giants on their fourteen-date national tour as well as their career highlight of performing alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Jake Bugg, Future Islands, The Vaccines and more for the Gentlemen Of The Road Event held at The Domain in Sydney.

DEW PROCESS WELCOMES L.K. MCKAY

L.K McKay

L.K. McKay releases his debut track ‘Tip Toe’, featuring Doe Paoro and Alexander Burnett via Dew Process / UMA. L.K. McKay will be hitting the road throughout February and March this year for a national DJ tour, playing shows across five states.

You might not have heard his name, but you’ve definitely heard the bouncy, technicolor beats of L.K. McKay across airwaves and festival stages in the past 12 months. The Adelaide writer and producer has been one of the driving forces behind hip hop starlet Tkay Maidza, producing her monster radio hits ‘U-Huh’ and ‘M.O.B’, and serving as her tour DJ since 2013. He has also been busy in the remix world, tweaking tunes for the likes of Wet and Twinsy.

Tip Toe’ features vocals from Brooklyn’s Doe Paoro, whose debut album was produced by Bon Iver. The track also features vocals from former Sparkadia frontman and renowned songwriter Alex Burnett, who wrote the lyrics for the song.

‘Tip Toe’ was premiered in Australia on triple j’s Home & Hosed program and online on Clash who have declared of the track “It’s a sizzling return, a piece of blissed out electronic pop that could only come from Australia”

Having toiled away behind the scenes, the time is right for L.K. McKay to step out and make 2016 his year. Having quietly signed to Dew Process (Tkay Maidza, Last Dinosaurs, EVES THE BEHAVIOR, London Grammar), McKay has a string of single releases lined up for 2016.

As part of Tkay Maidza’s live set up, McKay has toured with some of music’s biggest names in the past 12 months, including Charli XCX, Years & Years, Illy and Mark Ronson, and rocked some of the world’s best festivals including Splendour in the Grass, SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon and The Great Escape. In July last year he made his live solo debut to a packed Mix Up Tent at Splendour In The Grass.

With a surprising amount of momentum already behind him, it won’t be long before the name of L.K. McKay is as famous as the heart-racing music he creates.

Rosie Lowe Releases Her New Single ‘Woman’

01. PRESS SHOT_SEPT 14_RL25537_CO_

With a succession of critically adored tracks to her name, the London-based, Devon-born musician Rosie Lowe has emerged as one of the most hotly tipped artists around. Now Lowe is set to captivate her biggest audience to date with the February 19th release of her eagerly anticipated debut album Control.

Released on Dew Process and Universal Music in Australia, Control demonstrates exactly why pioneering artists including Little Simz, The Invisible, Kwabs, Ady Suleiman, Ghostpoet and respected tastemaker Gilles Peterson have all recognised and supported her. It’s an album that breaks loose from the confinement of expected genres – you’ll hear echoes of James Blake, The Weeknd, Laura Mvula and The xx in her original synth-soul soundscapes – and Lowe’s personality is also a pivotal part of the experience.

An emerging feminist icon, Control finds Lowe baring her soul as she explores a wealth of personal issues with devastating honesty. ‘Who’s That Girl?’ addresses the matter of some so-called friends who didn’t help while she was hospitalized, and album track ‘Nicole’ is a plea for Rosie’s best friend to leave a bad relationship.

The brutal realities of love and relationships are also a recurring theme. Recent single ‘Worry About Us’ tackles the complexities of trying to retain a relationship by someone who is plagued by insecurity; ‘I’ll Be Gone’ is an emotional plea to partner to remind her not to flee when the inevitably challenging times emerge; and ‘So Human’ underlines an acceptance that negative emotions are a vital part of the human experience. Yet as articulate and opinionated as Lowe is, she possesses a warmth and a sharp-wit that immediately allows strangers to feel like old pals.

Produced by Lowe with Dave Okumu (Jessie Ware, Paloma Faith, Kwabs, The Invisible). Previous singles ‘Right Thing’, ‘Who’s That Girl?’ and ‘Worry Bout Us’ all feature alongside a wealth of new material.

The album will be further previewed by the new single ‘Woman’ which is defining statement of the powers of modern feminity: “I find myself obsessing about imperfections that only I can see / And I know it’s such a waste but the pressure is getting to me,” she states, before declaring: “Why should my intellect be judged by perceptions of what I should be?”

Pre-orders are now available for Control from iTunes. All pre-orders will be rewarded with ‘Woman,’ ‘Right Thing,’ ‘Who’s That Girl?’ & ‘Worry Bout Us’ provided as instant grat tracks.

Rosie Lowe grew up in south Devon as the youngest of six siblings. Their father, an accomplished jazz saxophonist, encouraged them to follow creative interests and together they bonded over a shared love of music. For Rosie, a childhood love of jazz set her on a path that would dictate her future. “There’s never been anything else that I’ve wanted to do,” she asserts. “Music wasn’t an option, it was a necessity.”

She soon became enamoured with the leading lights of the female singer-songwriter tradition – Carole King, Erykah Badu and Joni Mitchell to name but a few. She learnt their songs then broke them apart. She analysed their lyrics. She fell in love with the art of songwriting.

It wasn’t until she studied popular music at Goldsmiths, however, that she found her own sound. The breakthrough came when she ditched her instruments and focused on teaching herself production and recording techniques. She was soon approached by management and signed to Domino Publishing. London indie label 37 Adventures soon jumped on board too, and released her critically-adored, four-track debut EP ‘Right Thing’.

Oh Wonder Announce Supports For Headline Shows As Well As Their Own Support Slots

OhWonder_Presser

London duo Oh Wonder sold out both of their first-ever live Australian dates within 48 hours of going on sale. With both shows upgraded due to overwhelming response, Sydney’s new venue already sold out and Melbourne soon to follow, we’re excited to announce the supports for both shows.

Folk-tronica songstress Gordi is confirmed to warm up the stage at The Corner on Tuesday January 5 with her vintage vocal layering, earthy guitar textures and delicate modern electronic production.

Sydney’s show at Oxford Art Factory Wednesday January 6 will open with PLGRMS, a musical project born of the talented Sydney-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Bowden and accomplished Australian born, London-based singer-songwriter Toma Banjanin.

Oh Wonder also add one more date to their busy Australian schedule as they are announced to support Halsey’s sold out show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, Thursday January 7.

After spending the last twelve months releasing single tracks online to a rapidly forming fan base on the first of every month, Oh Wonder, who have been melting hearts across the globe with their captivating live performances have sold out over 22 of their debut performances including two shows at NYC’s Rough Trade, two shows at London’s The ICA and two shows at Village Underground. They have just been announced for The Great Escape festival plus added another 17 dates across Europe and the UK for March 2016 with their O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire show selling out the very same day tickets went on sale.

22 year old Sydney folktronica artist Gordi caused a stir in late 2014 and early 2015 with her luminous indie pop songs ‘Nothing As It Seems’, ‘Taken Blame’ and ‘Can We Work It Out’ being picked up by triple j and community radio around Australia, with tastemaker blogs drawing comparisons to Asgeir, Tallent Man on Earth and Angel Olsen.

Gordi’s debut EP out early 2016 is set to take your breath away.

PLGRMS’ Jonathan Bowden began working on songs in Sydney with producer Ross James (Bertie Blackman, Thelma Plum) and then sent them across the globe for Toma Banjanin to work on lyrics and record vocals in London.  The song ‘Pieces’ is the debut single from PLGRMS. Featuring The Preatures’ Luke Davison on drums, ‘Pieces’ is a dark yet inviting foray into the world of PLGRMS.

PLGRMS are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut EP, which will be out in early 2016.

ECCA VANDAL RELEASES ‘END OF TIME’ VIDEO AND ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TOUR

ecca_presser 2

Ecca Vandal drops hypnotic new video for ‘End Of Time’ and announces national headline tour for 2016, proudly supported by triple j. The seven-date tour kicks off Saturday February 20, in Perth and takes in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Ecca Vandal will be showcasing new material off her forthcoming debut LP which is set to be released in early 2016 via Dew Process / UMA.

The ‘End Of Time’ video was directed by Matt Chuang, best known for his strong cinematic approach to storytelling, Chuang creates work that is visually striking and emotionally engaging. Ecca says of the video “I decided to collab with a different director to flip it for this track. Matt Chuang has a beautiful eye and captures great raw emotion. He created an interesting and simple visual translation of the energy of End Of Time – there’s a raw, unsettling feeling in this piece and we decided to hold shots way longer than expected to linger in the intensity and vulnerability of the performance. Matt was also shooting, so there was a nice unpredictability between performance and camera-motion as neither of us knew what each other were going to do! I dig that organic free flow, and most of that appears in this clip – we kept it in, warts n all”Ecca’s stand-out performance at Splendour In The Grass earlier this year had fans and music industry alike raving about her energetic and genre defying sound, with the likes of The Guardian declaring “This rapping riot girl won’t be warming up for bigger acts in a year or two.” Of her September ‘Father Hu$$la’ headline show at Sydney’s Goodgod, The Music stated “Each track that Vandal belts out is epitomised by the pure intensity of her delivery… her live performances are developing into the stuff of legend… The boundless energy from the frontwoman is matched by an equally enthusiastic band. Pounding drums, ruthless guitars and thick bass/MPC sounds lay a solid baseline…we can’t afford to let Ecca Vandal out of sight. She’s on fire and here to stay.”New single ‘End of Time’ was premiered on triple j and added straight to the playlist. The track re-illustrates Ecca’s anti-genre persona, positioning her at the very cusp of a new chapter for Australian women in music. ‘End Of Time’ co-produced by Ecca in collaboration with co-writer and producer Kidnot, is the first single that does not feature a distorted guitar, instead it’s injected with gritty, pulsing danceable beats interlaced with Ecca’s soaring melodies against dark, pop, shoegazer synths. ‘End Of Time’ is a sonic shift from previous singles ‘Battle Royal’ and ‘Father Hu$$la’, an exciting reminder of just how difficult it is to pigeonhole her as an artist. The track was premiered online via The Line Of Best Fit who declared “Vandal’s ceaseless charisma and fascinating experiments force you to hang on every beat…This one’s hook-rich and poised to infect the airwaves – it’s pure pop brilliance.”Joining Ecca Vandal on the road for all shows (ex. Perth) are Brisbane punk-infused rockers WAAX. With an “utterly terrifying” front-person in Marie DeVita, WAAX have been quickly thrust onto the local punk scene and have supported the likes of fellow Aussies Kingswood, The Delta Riggs, Emperors and Stonefield as well as international acts such as Japanese punk legends Guitarwolf, UPSET (ex- Vivian Girls, Best Coast and Hole members) and Canadian upcoming punk buddies White Lung. WAAX showcased at this years’ BIGSOUND and mowed down every room they inhabited along the east coast.

TKAY MAIDZA DROPS THE THUNDEROUS ‘GHOST’

TKAY

Tkay Maidza drops her thunderous new track ‘Ghost’, co-written in New York with Sydney glamour girl George Maple and produced by IRL friends George Maple, What So Not and Baauer. ‘Ghost’ is available now via Dew Process / UMA. The five-foot-something force known as Tkay Maidza is currently on her way to the UK and Europe and will be performing a handful of shows, including her first ever show in Paris on November 24 for iconic French electronic label Kitsune, home to the likes of Phoenix, Hot Chip and Two Door Cinema Club, to which she has just inked an international deal.

‘Ghost’ scored a worldwide radio premiere on triple j Drive and online via Pigeons & Planes, who said of the track “Australian artist Tkay Maidza has earned a reputation for consistently delivering eclectic music characterized by colorful raps, catchy hooks, and captivating production. With her new single “Ghost,” she takes it all to the next level. The colossal track is produced by Baauer, What So Not and George Maple, and it’s already making Monday morning a lot more tolerable.”

Tkay explains, “This song was purely made by friends hanging out and vibing…George has random vocals she recorded over really cool, dark melodies and we worked together and expanded it. When we were in New York, Baauer came to hang out and we let him jam out with us and it all came together.”

The 19-year-old powerhouse from Adelaide wrapped up a national sixteen-date tour at the end of October with sold out shows across the country. Tkay Maidza has some of the biggest names in the game spitting her praise (Killer Mike, Charli XCX) and support spots (Mark Ronson, Years & Years, Rita Ora and Charli XCX) by the bucket-load.

Tkay is set to slay the stages of some of Australia’s coolest Summer festivals including This That, Beyond The Valley, Meredith Festival and Lost Paradise.

“The gift that keeps on giving. If there’s one thing that unites us and our crew and most of the British bands we get to go on tour with, it’s not music, it’s football. It’s the subject that anyone who’s never met can suddenly become intimate over, it’s the ultimate leveller, and it’s the greatest sport on earth. We love football. Football.” – Marcus Mumford, Mumford & Sons

Football is everything to me. It’s empowering, it’s humanising, it’s beautiful and it’s fun. For all of the highs and all of the catharsis that music provides me with, there is no feeling in the world like playing good football with good friends.” – Justin Hayward, The Vaccines

Little May Covers Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘Skeletons’ And Announce City and Colour Support

LM

Since the October release of their long-awaited debut album, ‘For the Company’, Little May have been travelling the world on their 25 date Australian, US, UK and Europe tour, showcasing what Little May do best – slow-burning, melancholic melodies that reflect equal parts hope and heartbreak. The Sydney outfit will be home to play the Falls Festival and Southbound festivals and have just been announced to play their biggest shows to date supporting  City and Colour in March and April of 2016.

Little May was asked by Tavi Gevinson’s, Rookie Magazine to craft a cover for their October Theme Song. The trio offered their interpretation of the majestic Yeah Yeah Yeah’s classic  ‘Skeletons’, adding their haunting harmonies and their own melodic magic.

triple j feature album, ‘For the Company’ was produced by Aaron Brooking-Dessner (The National) and was recorded in the Future Past Studios – a converted nineteenth-century church in Hudson, New York, which as Sterogum states “Feels totally appropriate — their music has a sense of drama to it, a stateliness and a dark romanticism befitting the echoey chambers that will look like this”.

Little May and their enchanting live show have caught the attention of tastemakers far beyond their hometown, with support from Seattle’s infamous KEXP, added to Eclectic24 playlist on LA’s KCRW and a live session on NYC’s WFVU as well as WNYC. Across the bond, ‘For The Company’ was spotlighted on Huw Stephens ‘It’s Album Time’ segment on BBC Radio 1 with a playlist addition on X Radio and airplay across Amazing Radio, Radio 2 and Radio 6.  Rock On Philly in the US notes, “One of the most captivating things about Little May is their beautiful vocal harmony. It’s already great just with Fields’ vocals, but when the layers of vocals are created with the addition of Liz Drummond and Annie Hamilton, it becomes magic.”

It’s safe to say that the last two years have been a whirlwind for the age-old friends – from topping Hype Machine and AMRAP community radio chart to international festival appearances at the likes of Mumford & Sons’ Gentlemen of the Road in New Jersey, invited to play Reading and Leeds Festivals, support slots with the likes of Bernard Fanning, Angus and Julia Stone and Cold War Kids and their dream-come-true online art campaign, #ArtFortheCompany.

Mumford & Sons ‘Gentlemen Of The Road’ – A Photography Exhibition

8542f99f-acc2-4d0e-b8a1-d985820099b9

To celebrate their return to Australia this month, Mumford & Sons announce a special Gentlemen Of The Road photography exhibition to be held on 13-15 November at Young Henry’s Brewery in Newtown, Sydney.

The Gentlemen of the Road concept was devised by Mumford & Sons in 2012 as a vehicle to tour their own show and curate an event that reflected their own musical tastes and provide a unique experience for their fans.  The band has since hosted 17 GOTR Stopover Festivals and headline shows the world over.

The GOTR photography exhibition will document shows in the UK, Australia, US and Canada and across each of GOTR Stopover towns. With exclusive access to archives from some of those closest to the eye of the storm, the exhibition will feature images in a mixture of formats and styles.  All images will be available to purchase in a limited edition run.

The band say:

“Friends, it is with pride and excitement that we announce to you our first Gentlemen of the Road photo show opening in Sydney. This exhibition will showcase the brilliant photography of our very own tour photographer Marcus Haney. Marcus has been shooting the band since their first appearance at Bonnaroo festival in 2009. This selection of his images aims to narrate the story of the small and adventurous GOTR Stopover festival as it winds its way ever further into the lesser visited hillsides and towns of the world.

Marcus’ work is complimented by a selection of images shot by Australian photographer Ty Johnson. Ty had become a close friend and collaborator of the bands and he has weathered more than a few Stopovers in his time. Lastly, a unique perspective is offered by two musicians who occupy their down time taking pictures of their travels. Bass player Ted Dwane and Drummer Chris Maas each contribute four images shot on film and developed on the road in the tour darkroom.

An exhibition of photography documenting the bands own festival, taken by photographers with access to every dressing room and tour bus reveals the band and their team at their most natural. These are not the glossy images suited to the pages of a magazine, but instead show a working band navigating their way through the highs and lows of the road, both on and off the stage.”

The exhibition will take place at Young Henry’s Brewery, who worked with the band to create a special ale to celebrate the release of their current album A Wilder Mind.

Last Dinosaurs Release New Single ‘Wurl’ and ‘Wellness’ Album

The days are getting longer, the nights are getting warmer and Last Dinosaurs celebrate the onset of summer by sharing new single ‘Wurl’, the third official single to be lifted from their recently released, second studio album ‘Wellness’. Last Dinosaurs also announce live dates for the upcoming festive season including Beyond The Valley Festival as well as support for brit-pop trio, The Wombats for their one and only Australian headline show.

‘Wurl’, described by Howl & Echoes as “an irresistible sonic journey” is beautifully sun-drenched track, filled with swirling guitars and catchy rapid drum beats which transports the listener to an otherworldly, dream-like atmosphere.

Last Dinosaurs second album ‘Wellness’ is a shimmering slice of indie guitar-pop which debut in the top 20 of the ARIA Album chart has already garnered a stack of incredible reviews with the likes of The Music declaring of the album “the Sunshine State’s indie pop rock four-piece are back with a slew of summer anthems… Last Dinosaurs’ second album journeys to a tropical soundscape soaked in their signature shimmering guitar riffs and melancholic vocals… Whether it catapults you into self-discovery or summertime, Last Dinosaurs’ second album will leave a lasting impression either way.”

First two singles ‘Evie’ and ‘Apollo’ have both received additions to the triple j playlist and Last Dinosaurs flourishing online presence has accumulated over 14.4 million streams.

Just last month the Brisbane indie guitar-pop four piece wrapped up their triple j supported national ‘Wellness’ album tour which saw the band travel across six states to headline some of the biggest venues of their career, including The Enmore Theatre in Sydney and The Corner in Melbourne plus played a headline slot to hometown fans at Brisbane’s Valley Fiesta.

Don’t miss Last Dinosaurs’ upcoming performances at Beyond The Valley, supporting The Wombats & at the Melbourne Zoo Twilight Series 2016. Watch www.lastdinosaurs.com for all the latest releases and news.

Ecca Vandal Drops New Single ‘End Of Time’ + Young Fathers Support Announcement

ecca_presser

Ecca Vandal has revealed a little bit more of her genre-bending debut record with her latest single, ‘End Of Time’. The forthcoming LP is set to be released early 2016 via Dew Process / UMA. It has just been announced that Ecca Vandal has been confirmed as lead support for Scottish Mercury Prize-winning trio Young Fathers on their upcoming Australian headline shows, Tuesday January 5 at Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney and Thursday January 7 at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne.

‘End of Time’ re-illustrates Ecca’s anti-genre persona, positioning her at the very cusp of a new chapter for Australian women in music. The track was premiered via The Line Of Best Fit who declared “Vandal’s ceaseless charisma and fascinating experiments force you to hang on every beat…This one’s hook-rich and poised to infect the airwaves – it’s pure pop brilliance.”

Ecca says of ‘End Of Time’, “It’s about being committed to something for life… no matter how unattainable it is, no matter how much you sacrifice. And that thing that takes hold of you can be a blessing and curse.”

Ecca, a force to be reckoned with, is inspired by having no borders and no boundaries. Ecca names her musical influences among the likes of Bjork, Radiohead, Mr Bungle and Fugazi; artists who she declares are “in their own lane” and have forged their own creative path.

Ecca’s stand-out performance at Splendour In The Grass earlier this year, had fans and music industry alike raving about her energetic and genre defying sound, with the likes of The Guardian declaring “This rapping riot girl won’t be warming up for bigger acts in a year or two.”

As well as the Young Fathers tour support, Ecca will be performing alongside the likes of Marlon Williams, Courtney Barnett and Harts at the upcoming The Age Music Victoria Genre Awards 2015 plus Til’ The Wheels Fall Off Festival and Festival Of The Sun.

Last Dinosaurs have emerged from the Sunshine State’s bubbling indie scene to capture the hearts and ears of listeners across the world. The Wombats have just been added to the Falls Festival lineups in Byron NSW and Marion Bay TAS, as well as Southbound Festival. The Brit-pop trio were in Australia earlier this year, playing to a huge and enthusiastic crowd at Splendour In The Grass. The Wombats have just wrapped up their US tour and are currently making their was across the UK and Europe in support of their third album ‘Glitterbug’, which scored a triple j feature album that debuted at #2 on the ARIA charts, featuring their latest single ‘The English Summer’ as well as ‘Greek Tragedy’, ‘Give Me a Try’ and ‘Your Body Is A Weapon’.

The Wombats made their Splendour debut in 2008 with songs from their killer debut album ‘A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’. Mumford & Sons unveil latest single ahead of Australian tour ‘Tompkins Square Park’

Mumford and Sons performs at iHeartRadio Theater in New York City, 8 May 2015.

“Then there’s the album’s sharpest moment, the coursing breakup tune Tompkins Square Park, where the singer demands that someone meet him in the East Village for one last desperate shot of love. The sentiment is Springsteen, the guitars are straight-up Strokes, and even if it’s not going to work out for the relationship in this song, the music itself bristles with self-assurance.” Rolling Stone Magazine

Mumford & Sons release their new single, ‘Tompkins Square Park’, on the 2nd November 2015 through Gentlemen of the Road/ Dew Process / UMA. It is the fourth single, lifted from the band’s number 1 selling, critically acclaimed third album, Wilder Mind.

Tompkins Square Park follows the release of ‘Believe’, ‘The Wolf’, and ‘Ditmas’ from Wilder Mind. It’s a beautifully sprawling tune, showcasing the deft ebb and flow of the band’s musicianship, and another very fine example of what makes Wilder Mind such a scintillating record. The song references the tranquil, open space that sits within the East Village, Manhattan.

Mumford & Sons will return for a short visit to Australia and New Zealand in November, before wrapping up the year with dates in Ireland and the UK, to cap what has been a fantastic, eventful year for the British band.

‘Tompkins Square Park’ is taken from Mumford & Sons latest album “Wilder Mind” available now on iTunes, CD and Vinyl.

ART OF SLEEPING COVER DRAKE FOR LIKE A VERSION!

AOS-PRESS

Art Of Sleeping are fresh out of the triple j studios in Sydney where they have just taken part in the esteemed ‘Like A Version’ segment. The Brisbane boys performed their original song ‘Crazy’ taken from their debut album ‘Shake Shiver’ and a sultry rendition of Drake’s smash hit ‘Hotline Bling’ which currently sits at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and of which Drake has just dropped a music video which at this moment is breaking the internet. Art Of Sleeping put their own unique spin on the hit, showing of their signature guitars riffs and Caleb’s crooning vocals that lends itself perfectly to Drizzy’s sexy slow jam.

edfd72f4-302f-498d-9a5c-215a9a996235

“Melodically, we wanted to stay reasonably true to the original vocal which allowed us to experiment more instrumentally with some panning synth and fuzzy guitar sounds. We decided to change around some of the chord structure to create an interpretation of the song that hopefully reflects our sound with out sacrificing the magic of the original. I also threw in a cheeky line from the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ for fans of Drakes earlier albums.” – Caleb Hodges

Art Of Sleeping were recently announced as lead support act for the Boy & Bear national ‘Limit Of Love’ album tour that begins at the end of January 2016, and will see them performing across six states to some of their biggest audiences to date including their hometown Riverstage.

Hot off the back of a fourteen-date national tour with fellow Aussies The Jungle Giants, Art Of Sleeping have also been announced on the incredible line-up that is the Gentlemen Of The Road event being held at The Domain in Sydney on November 14. The band will be performing alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Jake Bugg, Future Islands, The Vaccines, The Jungle Giants and Meg Mac in November.

Art Of Sleeping’s debut album ‘Shake Shiver’ was released in July and has seen a steady stream of glowing album reviews with the likes of the Sydney Morning Herald declaring “Art Of Sleeping have set a high bar with their debut longplayer. Production from Yanto Browning and Tom Iansek sees the album emanate a warmth and power, which in combination with smart, poignant lyrical turns, has resulted in one of the most compelling releases of the year”.

‘Bleeding Out’ as well as previously released singles ‘Crazy’ and ‘Voodoo’ have all received additions on the triple j playlist and the bands flourishing online presence resulting in an accumulation of over 2.7 million streams online.

Kingswood members Fergus Linacre, Alex Laska, Jeremy Hunter and Justin Debrincat are absolutely ecstatic over the announcement and are honored to be part of the ‘ROCK OR BUST’ tour which will see the Melbourne four-piece play to some of the biggest audiences to date. Kingswood vocalist/ guitarist Alex Laska has stated “There isn’t really much one can say about touring with ACDC, childhood dreams being realised generally results in a loss for words.”

Kingswood‘s ‘Microscopic Wars – Deluxe’ 2CD package will feature the full studio album plus an additional 7 tracks, including two new studio cuts of VLAD and Baby Doll and live versions of ICFTYDLM, So Long, Ohio, Suckerpunch and Tremor from their sold-out Melbourne’s Forum Theatre show for their March, 2015 ‘Microscopic Wars’ national album tour. The deluxe version will also be available on limited edition white and red splattered vinyl; the package will include a download card with links to album plus the extra 7 track MP3s.

The sold-out Forum Theatre show was a defining moment in the bands career, of which Laska declares: “To be able to have captured such a special evening in the band’s career is definitely one of the utmost highlights. Having the additional instrumentation and musicians made for a performance that was imagined many years prior as teenagers watching other performers there. To have realised this dream is incredibly humbling”

Kingswood’s 2014 album ‘Microscopic Wars’ which was produced by Grammy Award winning Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, The Ractonteurs) achieved a top 10 debut in the national ARIA charts at #6 and subsequently went on to receive an ARIA Nomination for ‘Best Rock Album’.

Watch The New Video For Paul Conrad’s Single ‘California’

PC_Presser

“There’s a buzz around Paul Conrad that is difficult to ignore”Clash Magazine (Track of the Day 9/10)

Fresh off inking deals with Island Records in the UK and Primary Talent the house of Alt J; Lana Del Rey & Kirin J Callinan, and touring Australia with Winterbourne & Eves the Behavior, Paul Conrad offers the world his latest track, which was premiered by John Kennedy on Radio X in the UK and video that was first seen on Clash Magazine for new single ‘California’, which is out now via Dew Process/Universal Music Australia. ‘California’ is an infectious follow up to Conrad’s ominous and incredibly powerful track ‘Records’ and will be featured on his forthcoming EP, which is slated for release early next year.

Similar to the audio, the clip according to Conrad was “ideally designed to exhibit the dichotomous manifestations of circumstances conducive to the upper echelons of societal constructs whereby money, beauty and good fortune waver and acquiesce in the face of insecurity, inner torment & the evil that resides within all of us.”

Attracting buzz online, Paul Conrad combines his years of orchestral study with an unruly attitude to create his hybrid of alt-pop music; the perfect storm of hazy vocals, massive choruses and un-apologetic realism wrapped in dark electronic beats. Conrad’s bold worldviews, quick-wit and razor sharp tongue has become his emblem and will undoubtedly continue to write itself as he reveals himself from the shadows narrating exactly what we are all thinking, but too scared to say.

LITTLE MAY’S NEW VIDEO FOR ‘SEVEN HOURS’ AND ALBUM ‘ART FOR THE COMPANY’ ARE OUT TODAY!

LM

Little May unveil a hauntingly beautiful video for single ‘Seven Hours’ to celebrate the release of their long-awaited debut album ‘For the Company’, which is out today via Dew Process / UMA.

The video is a hopeful adventure; a paradox; exploring loss, longing and change all appropriately set in both the center of Sydney and in an underwater paradise of our imaginations.  Director, Gareth Davies, the visionary behind the clip interprets,  “Seven Hours seemed appropriate for exploring a more surreal narrative – it comes from an idea of a man moving through and letting go of a past relationship and coming to terms with this loss.  Whales are a totem for me, personally – so it was serendipitous to see afterwards that they also appear all throughout the band’s album artwork also.  There was definitely something significant and special about working on this video.”

‘For the Company’ was produced by Aaron Brooking-Dessner (The National) and was recorded in the Future Past Studios – a converted nineteenth-century church in Hudson, New York.  Little May have caught the attention of tastemakers far beyond their Sydney home with The Line of Best Fit declaring “Little May have added another worthy entrant to 2015’s albums of modern blues and, unlike the relationships that inhabit its songs, it gets better with each visit” The LP has been added to Eclectic24 KCRW’s new music stream and was spotlighted on Huw Stephens ‘It’s Album Time’ segment on BBC Radio 1 and has just been announced as triple j’s feature album. The trio have also just signed a international publishing deal with Sony ATV.

It’s safe to say that the last two years have been a whirlwind for age-old friends Hannah Field, Liz Drummond and Annie Hamilton from topping hype machine charts to sold-out Australian shows, support tours with Angus and Julia Stone, Bernard Fanning, Cold War Kids & Rodriguez, international festival appearances including The Great Escape, Bonnaroo Festival and CMJ where they were officially selected as one of the “11 Breakout Acts of CMJ”. The trio’s current 25-date worldwide tour saw them selling out their London show to capacity and will see them play the UK, Europe and USA, further solidifying themselves as an ‘act to watch’ as touted by the likes of The Huffington Post and The Guardian.

Australian fans will be able to see Little May this Summer, when they are schedule to play alongside the likes of Foals, Bloc Party and Gary Clark Jr. at The Falls Music and Arts Festival as well as Southbound.

ECCA VANDAL DROPS VIDEO FOR FATHER HU$$LA

ecca_jpg

Ecca Vandal returns with her third single, Father Hu$$la, an anthemic discussion about being young, and thinking you know everything about your family, but as you grow, realising you never really knew them at all.

The video for Father Hu$$la sees Ecca once again team up with creative co-producer Kidnot and director Andy Stalph, who was the brains behind previous videos ‘White Flag (2014), and ‘Battle Royal’  (2015).

“The video is an audio visual kaleidoscope that takes you down the dark path of childhood discovery…in saying that, I want people to interpret the video anyway they want.. It’s art, and that’s what drives me, the imagination, the creative process..I am getting more and more hands on across all artistic mediums and the ideas are endless, that’s what keeps it exciting for me..” Ecca Vandal

EVES THE BEHAVIOR Melbourne And Sydney Shows HAVE Sold Out AND Support HAS BEEN Announced

Eves

EVES THE BEHAVIOR’s upcoming September Melbourne and Sydney EP launch shows have now officially sold out. Tickets for the first Melbourne date at Shebeen, were snapped up within two days of announce and both remaining shows have now followed suit. EVES THE BEHAVIOR will be joined at all shows by enigmatic Sydney-composer, singer and producer, Paul Conrad.

EVES THE BEHAVIOR’s stunning four track EP was released July 24 via Dew Process / UMA and features previously released singles ’TV’ and ‘Electrical’, both of which became fast favorites at triple j and have gained in excess of 1.5million total combined plays online, a remix of ‘TV’ from the hands of producer / Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa plus brand new brand new track ‘Digging’.

Says Karydas of ‘Digging’ “In May I bought a ticket to go around the world alone. It’s piloted some of the highest and lowest moments I’ve had thus far and obviously that ink runs into my writing. This song is largely a result of getting robbed in LA. Also, being alone and 20, feeling kind of whack in foreign places. I made about 80% of this track in airports and airbnb’s, and when I arrived in London I met with Stella Mozgawa and Samuel Dixon and they added the finishing touches.”

EVES THE BEHAVIOR will be performing in her hometown of Brisbane this Wednesday September 9, at the DEW PROCESS Annual BIGSOUND Party. After this short run of sold-out Melbourne and Sydney dates this month, Karydas will be packing her bags and heading back overseas to continue collaborating and writing material for her future pop-experiments.

Father Hu$$la has been described as, “a loud, declarative statement of intent…The singer’s got the attitude of a young, punky Gwen Stefani mixed with A$AP Rocky’s syrupy, rhyme-at-his-own-pace flow — in no uncertain terms, it’s impossible to turn away from Ecca Vandal once she starts up.”

Spin Magazine

Father Hu$$la is the third single from Ecca Vandal, an anthemic discussion about being young, and thinking you know everything about your family, but as you grow, realising you never really knew them at all.  Produced by Ecca Vandal & Kidnot, Co-Produced and mixed by Hadyn Buxton, Father Hu$$la follows her pervasive debut single ‘White Flag’ (2014), and the equally fierce ‘Battle Royal’  (2015), cementing Ecca Vandal as a creative force to be reckoned with.

Little May Premieres new single ‘Seven Hours’

LM_Presser

Before they embark on a national tour next month, Little May today bare their new single ‘Seven Hours’ which has just premiered via Stereogum. Showcasing what Little May do best – slow-burning, melancholic melodies that reflect equal parts hope and heartbreak, the second single is taken from their debut album “For The Company” available October 9 via Dew Process/Universal Music Australia.

With only four live shows scheduled for Australian audiences before embarking on a 25-date tour of the US, UK and Europe, Little May today announce that fans will also be able to catch the ethereal offerings of triple J Unearthed winner and folktronica fiend, Gordi as well as songwriting sir, Jim Lawrie who will be supporting the outfit on the East Coast run of dates. Perth supports will be announced soon.  Tickets are selling fast and fans are advised to purchase now.

Written in Jindabyne, Little May explain that the haunting mood of the song perfectly reflects the location in which it was written.  “We were at an isolated property with no phone reception or outside distractions – the view we had was of a dark, ominous lake surrounded by fantastic mountains. Being around the majesty of the Snowy Mountains and the surrounding countryside was surreal and helped to unlock what is now ‘Seven Hours’.”

Taken from the act’s 11-track Aaron Brooking Dessner-produced album, ‘Seven Hours’ follows the fragile, dark and intense first single ‘Home’ which reached #4 on Amrap’s AirIt metro chart locally, and has been receiving international recognition with airplay across the likes of BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 6, a feature in Clash Magazine.

Their May/June European tour saw them selling out their London show two months in advance, alongside a packed Paris performance and string of UK dates. Across the pond in the US, Little May played alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes and The Flaming Lips on the Gentlemen of the Road tour, before their performance at Bonnaroo Festival.

MANY THINGS ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM AND REVEAL SINGLE ’77’

manythings_presser

London-based Many Things have today dropped new single ‘77’ and announced their debut 11-track LP “Burn Together” will be released 4 September via Dew Process/Universal Music Australia.

‘77’ gets its title “from the empty bank in the drum machine where I punched in the initial beat” says Michael. “I was really into numerology at the time so I felt like it ought to stay. I felt the organ riff was ‘hype’ like Missy Elliot’s ‘We Run This’. Me and my $40 drum machine. The beat was somewhat improved when Macks picked up his drumsticks.”

The single is the second off their much-anticipated debut album “Burn Together” out 4 September, following the disco anthem ‘Holy Fire’. “Burn Together” follows last year’s ‘What We Are’ and also features hits ‘Chains’ – selected as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’; What We Are and Dear One’.

Many Things have spent the past couple of years recording the album between the UK, Germany and Australia, whilst releasing a series of killer singles and EP’s and playing their energetic, inspiring and often euphoric live shows. The band have been stirring up a groundswell of hype ever since their London genesis. Their short existence has already seen them championed by the likes of NME, Clash and Radio One.

Our Boys Have a New Video Out For Bleeding Out and Have Support Spots To Announce

AOS-PRESS

Art Of Sleeping unveil the video for ‘Bleeding Out’, the third official single to be lifted off the Brisbane indie charmers debut album ‘Shake Shiver’, which is out now via Dew Process / UMA.

The video for ‘Bleeding Out’ was directed by Nick Maguire (Jungle Giants,Orphans Orphans, Mosman Alder) who says of the clip “we wanted to create a performance style Music Video, but develop it in a way that manipulated colour and visual effects as a key part of its storytelling. We literally wanted the clip to ‘bleed out’ in a progression of grungy black and whites, to a wash of rich and unnaturally saturated tones. To do this, we used a macro lens to film ink mixing with water or milk at a high frame rate – using its movement, colour and texture as the foundation to this bleeding effect.”

Hot off the back of a phenomenal set at the GW McLennan Tent at Splendour In The Grass last month, Art Of Sleeping are about to embark on a fourteen-date national tour supporting fellow Aussies The Jungle Giants. Art Of Sleeping have also been announced on the incredible line-up that is the Gentlemen Of The Roadevent being held at The Domain in Sydney on November 14. The band will be performing alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Jake Bugg, Future Islands, The Vaccines, The Jungle Giants and Meg Mac in November, plus stay tuned formore Art Of Sleeping tour news later this year.

Art Of Sleeping’s debut album ‘Shake Shiver’ was released just last month and has seen a steady stream of glowing album reviews with the likes of The Bragstating “you can set your watch and warrant on Art Of Sleeping’s debut, Shake Shiver, being one of the year’s best albums”.

‘Bleeding Out’ as well as previously released singles ‘Crazy’ and ‘Voodoo’ have all received additions on the triple j playlist and the bands flourishing online presence resulting in an accumulation of over 2.3 million streams online.

Ecca Vandal – New Single ‘Father Hu$$la’

Ecca_Presser

Hot off the back of a phenomenal set at Splendour in the Grass last month…

“…this was a bloody great performance. “Mate, she’s gonna be big, she’s gonna be big,” the guy next to me said between his muddy-toed dance moves. Too bloody right she is. This rapping riot girl won’t be warming up for bigger acts in a year or two.” – The Guardian

Ecca Vandal returns with her third single, Father Hu$$la. An anthemic discussion about being young, and thinking you know everything about your family, but as you grow, realising you never really knew them at all. The track was premiered on air on triple j Goodnights and online via SPIN who declared “a loud, declarative statement of intent… in no uncertain terms, it’s impossible to turn away from Ecca Vandal once she starts up.”

Father Hussla will be available digitally via iTunes August 17, through Dew Process / UMA

Oh Wonder’s New Video for ‘Drive’

OhWonder_Presser

London-based duo Oh Wonder release their new single and video ‘Drive’ from their self-titled, debut album to be released September 4 via Dew Process / UMA. Oh Wonder also announce that they will be coming to Australia for the first time this summer to perform alongside the likes of Foals, Bloc Party and Gary Clark Jr. at The Falls Music and Arts Festival as well as Southbound.

The uplifting pop production of ‘Drive’ disguises the quietly dark, angst-ridden lyrics that explore the pained drive home after a break up; the conflicting feelings of freedom and justification. It’s a sad song shrouded in happiness.

In September 2014, the prolific songwriters devised an ambitious challenge; to release one track a month, for a year, on SoundCloud. As their plan nears fruition,Oh Wonder will bring the curtain down on the project by releasing their self titled debut album on 4th September as well as making their live debut the same month.

Every track released so far has topped the Hype Machine chart and, altogether, have garnered an incredible 33.5 million streams across SoundCloud and Spotify. They’ve also featured in Spotify’s Viral 50 Top Ten in the UK, US and Global charts.

The duo’s songs have been playlisted by BBC Radio 1, MTV Brand New and XFMand Anthony and Josephine have been featured in Q, i-D, NME, the Guardian, DIY, Hunger, The Line of Best Fit and SPIN.

After selling out their debut London gig at The ICA (16th September) the band quickly added a second date (17th September), which sold out in 12 hours. Extra dates were also added to their New York, LA and Paris shows after all the dates sold out. Now the band are pleased to announce their first UK tour, including a headline show at Village Underground on 24th November which has sold out and a second date has been added (23rd November).

Last Dinosaurs Drop New Video For ‘Apollo’

Dinos_Presser

Last Dinosaurs reveal the video for their latest single ‘Apollo’, from their hotly anticipated second album ‘Wellness’ to be released August 28, via Dew Process /UMA.

A lone security guard brings his A-game and busts some incredible yet hysterical dance moves, passing the time of a lonely late night graveyard shift at a deserted Brisbane shopping mall. Bass player Michael Sloane who directed the video says of the clip, “The concept came from the band wanting to portray the message of the song’s lyrics, ideas of leading a double life, wanting something more, and transitioning from ordinary to extraordinary. Even though the lyrics are serious, the upbeat music called for something fun on screen. I really have our dancer/actor Sheru Bharadwaja to thank for bringing groove, humour, and sincerity to his role as the security guard with a secret.”

Fresh from their sold-out national ‘Evie’ tour and blistering set at Splendour In The Grass, which saw the band play to a packed out crowd at the Amphitheatre stage, the Brisbane indie guitar-pop four piece are gearing up to hit the road for their triple j supported national ‘Wellness’ album tour. The tour will see the band travel across six states to headline some of the biggest venues of their career to date, including all ages as well as under 18’s shows which co-inside with upcoming September school holidays. Youngcare’s 10th Anniversary Benefit Concert Announced With Our Own Bernard Fanning & Mosman Adler

Benefit_presser

Our very own celebrated singer-songwriter Bernard Fanning has announced he’ll be joined by Melbourne’s #1 Dads, our own Mosman Alder and more in a special live concert to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of national charity Youngcare.

Brisbane’s iconic City Hall will host the Youngcare Benefit Concert, supported by Youngcare’s Foundation Partner Suncorp Insurance, on Saturday 10 October 2015.

Sharing the stage with Fanning, who is recently home from a European tour, will be emerging Brisbane six-piece Mosman Alder and Melbourne’s highly-acclaimed and recording-breaking #1 Dads.

Fanning said he was honoured to be invited to curate the fourth Youngcare Benefit Concert; the events have raised more than $650,000 for young Aussies with high care needs.

“The first concert that we did at City Hall in 2006 holds some incredible memories for me,” Fanning said.

Bernard

“It was an atmosphere like no other I have experienced as a performer. I can’t wait to be part of it again. It’s an iconic venue that rarely hosts concerts such as these.

“I take great pleasure in welcoming Mosman Alder and  #1 Dads headed by the multi-talented Tom Iansek and his host of merry guests, as well as my own band and returning funny man Julian Morrow.

“As always, we also have a special surprise guest. Come along and be part of it, help a great cause and be entertained up to the eyeballs for your trouble.”

Over the years, the Youngcare Benefit Concert has been host to a mouth-watering list of performers who have donated their time. Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Powderfinger, Pete Murray, Tim Rogers and Clare Bowditch are just some of the artists to have graced the Youngcare stage.

“I am yet to come across an artist who doesn’t want to be involved in some way,” Fanning said.

Mosman Alder collectively said: “We are delighted to find ourselves in a position to contribute as a band to such a worthy cause. And what a privilege to be sharing the stage with artists of such a high calibre! We feel truly humbled to be part of the whole event”.

mosman

For the past ten years, Bernard has helped Youngcare shine a bright light on the issues faced by young Aussies with high care needs, inspired by his friendship with David and Shevaune Conrry – with Shevaune being Youngcare’s inspiration.

Since 2005, Youngcare has worked to provide purpose-built accommodation, grants, research and a support phone line for thousands of young Australians living in aged care and hundreds of thousands more being cared for at home by loved ones.

CEO Samantha Kennerley said Youngcare is extremely grateful for Fanning’s long-time support.

“Bernard is a tireless champion for young people with high care needs and Youngcare,” Mrs Kennerley said. “We are enormously thankful to all the musicians who give their time and talent.

“Fans know that coming along to a Youngcare Benefit Concert guarantees a good time for a great cause – and they always sell-out fast!

“Every dollar raised by this concert helps give more young people with high care needs voice, choice and control over their own lives.

“The generosity of our supporters, and music lovers from around the nation, is overwhelming. In particular, our Foundation Partner Suncorp Insurance, who have again rallied their support to help Youngcare deliver another great concert experience.

“Since that first concert in 2006, Youngcare has built homes for dozens of young Aussies who needed to get out of residential aged care, and provided more than $2.2 million to over 400 young people through our grants programs.

“We’ve set the standard for a new model-of-care with our recently opened share house for four young people in Brisbane, and we’re about to kick off our first development in Sydney – apartments for eight young people at Auburn.

“There have been some incredible advances in care and accommodation but there is still plenty of work to do. With your support, we can help more young people live the young lives they deserve, and take Youngcare into the next decade and beyond.”
